West Ham Set To Sell £30m Forward, He’s Agreed Terms

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has already accepted a proposal to return to Italy, just a year after his £30m move to London.

How many goals has Scamacca scored?

Scamacca was an incredibly exciting prospect before making his move to West Ham last year. The Italian striker scored 16 goals in Serie A last year for Sassuolo, earning himself an expensive move to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has struggled however since his move, failing to replicate his success with just three goals in 16 Premier League appearances last season. The forward performed to a higher level in West Ham's Conference League triumph, scoring three in seven.

Scamacca began life at the London Stadium in a promising way, scoring four in his first 13 games. This early season form prompted captain Declan Rice to laud the striker with praise.

“I can tell you now he’s going to be unbelievable,” Rice told talkSPORT. “He‘s going to be really, really special." West Ham's captain passionately exclaimed "he’s just on another level".

The Italian has made 11 national team appearances so far, with zero goals there to his name, showing the forward could struggle to perform under major pressure.

Due to his poor season, Scamacca now appears set on a return to Serie A, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness. The report adds that AS Roma are the club most interested in the forward, due to Tammy Abraham being injured for the foreseeable future.

Scamacca is also reportedly extremely keen on the move with it being stated that he ‘has already accepted the proposal to return’ to his home country.

It is believed the Hammers aren't interested in a loan move and would prefer a clean break, but if no sale transpires a loan could indeed happen. It is believed a positve season on-loan could benefit West Ham too.

Will West Ham replace Scamacca?

West Ham would likely need to replace Scamacca if they lose him. His departure would leave them short up front with just an ageing Michail Antonio and injury prone Danny Ings in the ranks.

According to The Daily Mail, West Ham have identified Coventry City's Viktor Gyokeres as their primary striking target.

The Swedish striker is valued at £25m, and it is thought there are at least four Premier League sides in the hunt. The 25-year-old scored 21 Championship goals last season while also contributing ten assists as he fired Coventry to the play-off final.

Gyokeres is an incredibly exciting talent and could be a huge upgrade for West Ham on the current options available to David Moyes.

Leeds Could Bin Ayling For ‘Duracell Bunny’

Leeds United are a huge club, that many would agree should be in the Premier League. However, nothing in this sport is a given, and status must be earned no matter how prestigious an establishment may be.

However, it is this size that retains their immense pull, as players will still want to move to Elland Road knowing that being their promotion hero would see them become an instant fan favourite.

Therefore, this could suggest that the Whites are in for a big summer of vast revolution, and yet some of the key components of a Championship-winning team already remain in Yorkshire too.

Whilst plenty of the squad will likely seek an exit, their academy is instead laden with all the talent needed to maintain their levels on a much smaller budget.

In fact, returning from one hugely successful loan spell is youngster Cody Drameh, fresh from his playoff-winning exploits at Luton Town.

Despite being just 21 years old, his promotion expertise could prove invaluable in ensuring the Whites can achieve a similar feat.

How good is Cody Drameh?

In unleashing this youngster into the first team now, it would surely finally mark the exit of Luke Ayling from the first team.

The 31-year-old has been consistently poor for years now, having looked hopelessly out of his depth in the top flight. A 6.61 average Sofascore rating for the 2021/22 term was somehow worsened in the most recent campaign, with his 69% pass accuracy showcasing a defender stuck in the dark ages.

Meanwhile, in the league below, Drameh had been shining for the Hatters, recording a 7.09 average rating. His key attributes all suggest him to be the future of this club, as the perfect modern-day full-back who boasted 1.6 key passes, 3.1 tackles and 2.1 clearances per game, via Sofascore.

This technical proficiency combined with the relentless energy his youth provides further pronounces him as the outstanding option, with his former boss Steve Morison suggesting: "He is like a Duracell Bunny, isn't he? He just keeps going and going."

To compare that with the lazy exploits of Ayling, who allowed Harry Kane to ghost in unmarked for his first on their final-day thrashing to Tottenham Hotspur and went viral for his lack of effort in preventing a goal against Bournemouth. Indeed, they are worlds apart.

Whilst reports have been linking their bright young superstar with a move away, Andrea Radrizzani would do well to keep ahold of Drameh, knowing that his new boss would surely want to put him in the side.

With quality, energy, youth and fresh experience at demolishing the Championship all on his side, at last, Ayling can be ditched now a viable alternative has arrived.

Arsenal Make Contact To Sign 18 y/o Gem

Arsenal are thought to be leading the race to sign Fenerbahce gem Arda Guler after making contact with the player’s family.

What’s the latest Arsenal transfer news?

The Gunners appear to be looking to make relatively early moves in the transfer window following an exciting season under Mikel Arteta.

The club fell just short in the Premier League title race with Manchester City, but it seems as if Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar are working on bolstering the squad at the Emirates.

A top target appears to be West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, with an offer set to be made following the Hammers’ European final. However, another target appears to be Guler, with an exciting update emerging.

According to Turkish Football, Arsenal, along with Premier League rivals Newcastle United, appear to be in pole position as they are leading the race for the Fenerbahce gem.

Both clubs have made contact with Guler’s family who represent him and are preparing an official move. The player is thought to be keen on a move to a top European league and is expected to become in demand this summer, with Arsenal wanting to move early.

Who is Arda Guler?

Guler is just 18 years of age and is primarily an attacking midfielder who can also play on the right wing or in a deeper midfield role and is under contract until 2025.

Already a senior Turkey international, Guler is currently valued at a career-high €11m Transfermarkt valuation and has a sponsorship with Nike.

The teenager has already racked up 49 senior appearances for Fenerbahce, contributing to 20 goals and has been catching the eye amongst some of football’s greats. Italy legend Andrea Pirlo has been full of praise for the Guler, saying:

"Arda Guler is a very talented player. He has the potential to play anywhere in the world. He has quality, he can read the game well, and he has great technique. If he keeps developing his game, there is no limit to his potential."

It looks as if Guler could well be a top performer in the making, and with former Arsenal and Germany star Mesut Ozil also saying he can go on and become a "world star" in the future, a move to the Emirates over the coming months could be an extremely shrewd move by all those in north London.

Wolves Could Sign Neves Heir In £25m-rated Ace

Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a season of ups and downs this campaign, going from relegation candidates to safely in the middle of the table, Wolves will have a lot to reflect on this summer.

Things at Molineux improved following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui, who will have his first chance to rebuild his team inherited from Bruno Lage in the pending transfer window.

With safety from relegation confirmed, Wolves have two games remaining of the 2022/23 season to flex their potential, as shown by Lopetegui in yesterday’s defeat to Manchester United through starting Daniel Bentley.

The end of term is in sight, with clubs in the Premier League turning their attention slightly towards the transfer window, as managers seek to improve their squads through big-money business.

A number of players have already been linked with a potential move to Molineux, with one name – that of James McAtee – emerging as a newly promoted star from the Championship.

What’s the latest on James McAtee to Wolves?

Manchester City youngster James McAtee spent the season on loan at Sheffield United, gaining promotion with the Blades and building a lot of hype to his name with an impressive personal campaign.

The midfielder has subsequently been linked with a potential move away from City this summer, despite rumours of the current Premier League champions wanting to extend his contract.

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves are one of the clubs potentially interested in the £25m-rated 20-year-old, alongside the likes of Brighton, Aston Villa and Brentford.

What could James McAtee bring to Wolves?

The Salford-born midfielder registered 37 appearances in the Championship this season, with 21 of which being starts.

At just 20 years old the youngster averages a successful pass rate of 77% per game in the engine room, as well as 0.8 tackles per game, showing his efficiency in both pivotal areas of midfield – as per Sofascore.

Offensively, the midfielder has been “on fire” this season, as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig. The Englishman has contributed to 12 goals in the Championship, assisting three and scoring nine himself, making him the club’s third-highest scorer this campaign.

The youngster could be a formidable signing for Wolves, especially with the future of Ruben Neves in doubt ahead of the transfer window. McAtee has both out-scored and assisted the Portuguese star this season, as well as proving to be more direct on the ball, averaging 3.89 progressive carries per 90 to Neves’ 0.85 – as per FBref.

The 20-year-old has impressed those in the Championship this campaign, as well as those at the top of the Premier League, with the manager of his parent club Pep Guardiola, expressing that he is “delighted” with the midfielder’s progression.

Only time will tell if Wolves can capture the signature of the budding talent that City are hopeful to keep with them, however, there is no denying that he is a hot prospect and could be the man to replace Neves' talismanic-like presence in the Old Gold's starting XI.

Tottenham: £50m "liability" was "shocking" vs Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur’s top-four chances were blown in tatters after they were demolished by Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Under the guidance of interim boss Cristian Stellini, the north London outfit put in a shambolic display, likely their worst of the entire 2022/23 Premier League campaign as the Magpies hit them for six, with Harry Kane only mustering a mere second-half consolation goal.

It marks another sad page in Spurs’ sorry season, with the struggling side opting for a four-back system, in which Cristian Romero partnered Eric Dier and neither could register a rating above 5.6, per Sofascore figures.

The former was particularly disappointing, even more so than goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who was hooked at the break with a suspected injury.

How did Cristian Romero play against Newcastle?

Having played a three-back all season, it was clear that the Argentine could not adapt to the system at such short notice and he was severely punished as Eddie Howe’s men stuck five goals past the trio by the 21st minute.

Across the 90 or so minutes he was on the pitch, the £50m aggressor won just one of his five duels (20%), was dribbled past on three occasions, including for Joelinton’s sumptuous strike – a moment that Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville lambasted as “shocking” on Twitter – and the renowned “liability” – as once described by Jamie O’Hara – also recorded one error leading to a shot.

In addition to that, within eight minutes of coming on, Romero was booked for scything down Callum Wilson, who had bagged the Magpies’ sixth and final goal with practically his first touch.

BBC contributor Oli Prince-Bates also claimed the £165k-per-week defender was “the most overrated player” in the Premier League, whilst the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick was equally unimpressed by the World Cup winner as he wrote in his post-match column: ‘A World Cup winner in a back four but just as poor as the rest, and all at sea for at least three of the goals.’

Elsewhere, Romero failed to register a single interception or tackle, which are usually two key facets of his aggressive game and only further highlights just how much of a difficult afternoon he had up against the likes of Alexander Isak and Josh Murphy, who both bagged themselves the easiest brace of their careers.

All in all, you could pick fault in any of Spurs’ backline as they are not equipped to be deploying a four-at-the-back system and whilst Lloris may get scapegoated, given his persistent errors, Romero should have done far better as arguably the Lilywhites’ best centre-back.

Leeds’ "Shocking" 32 y/o Flop Is Now Unemployed

Leeds United's academy have produced an incredibly consistent amount of top talent over the years; however, it seemed like that kicked into overdrive during their darkest years as a club.

When finances were so bleak that any asset had to be sold at a cut price, the Whites would produce talents like James Milner, Fabian Delph and Aaron Lennon, all of whom were poached by bigger clubs preying on their misfortunes.

The same was expected when Danny Rose departed Yorkshire as a 17-year-old prodigy, having yet to play a first-team game under Dennis Wise. Although his tenure within the dugout was short, the manager likely had little say in seeing the left-back leave for Tottenham Hotspur. Whilst his future was bright, Leeds needed top players now rather than in five years' time, such was their predicament.

It was a necessary evil to offload the teenage sensation, and whilst they may live to rue the sale, all they could do at the time was shrug their shoulders and move on.

And yet, nearly 16 years on from the move, the 32-year-old finds himself unemployed, forced to talk about football from the sidelines when he would likely much rather still be playing the sport instead.

What happened to Danny Rose?

Featuring 214 times in total for the Lilywhites, this hardly represents a fine return from someone who spent so long at the club. However, it was thought that he truly would be destined for the stars when the defender volleyed home from all of 30 yards against bitter rivals Arsenal on his Premier League debut.

Despite this, especially given his more prominent spells within the team, it never really felt like the full-back was particularly excellent in any one facet of the game for sustained periods. His defensive work was solid if unspectacular; a return of just ten goals and 29 assists across over 200 appearances is indicative of his average offensive exploits.

Even as recently as 2019, Roy Keane lambasted the defender as "shocking" and "abysmal" after a performance for his country, showcasing just how quickly he fell from grace.

It seemed that the Englishman truly met his end in north London under Jose Mourinho, in what is now a lightning rod moment for ridicule. He told the legendary Portuguese coach: “I was very excited when you came as manager, but if you don’t want me to play, I’d rather you just tell me now, and I’ll stay at home, and I’ll train at home."

This then led to a conversation with CEO Daniel Levy, where he famously asked if AC Milan had come in for him despite the only suitors being Newcastle United.

As the beginning of the end of a once-promising career stagnated, he would struggle on Tyneside before moving to Watford, only to be banished from there as well, with his contract eventually terminated.

danny-rose-newcastle-tottenham-hotspur

The 32-year-old even recently questioned "How am I unemployed?" after watching the Magpies maul his old club just last week, suggesting that the defender is not retired, simply unwanted. The displays in the final years of his career serve to answer his query.

Leeds should have played witness to a fine career for Rose away from their club, yet poor decisions perhaps thwarted what could have been a very special player.
