Confira o resumão do mercado.

“BRIGA” BOA

NO COMANDO

ARTILHEIRO CHEGOU!

Diego Tardelli foi apresentado nesta quarta-feira no Grêmio.

É DO CLUBE ITALIANO

Lumb fifty gives Sixers a lifeline

An unbeaten 61 from Michael Lumb on the back of a polished bowling display has given Sydney Sixers a sliver of hope of defending their title

The Report by Alex Malcolm07-Jan-2013
ScorecardSteve O’Keefe took 3 for 21•Getty ImagesAn unbeaten 61 from Michael Lumb on the back of a polished bowling display has given Sydney Sixers a sliver of hope of defending their title.Brisbane Heat entered the match as the only side with anything to play for. A win would have catapulted them into the top four with one round remaining but they instead, they produced their worst performance of the tournament after winning the toss and electing to bat.James Hopes set his side back early, playing out a maiden from the Sri Lankan offspinner Sachithra Senanayake. Senanayake, with only nine international caps to his name, proved a weapon in his first match for the Sixers. Although he went wicketless, his four overs cost just 19 and his maiden piled enormous pressure on Hopes, who holed out to Steve O’Keefe the following over.Joe Burns joined Luke Pomersbach and although the pair put together 48, the 43 balls it took put pressure on Heat.Josh Hazlewood made an impressive return from injury to remove Burns in his second over. It was the first of three scalps for Hazlewood, who remains firmly in the gaze of the national selectors. It also triggered a collapse from the home side. Heat lost four wickets in 19 balls, all to strokes aimed at clearing the rope to lift the sinking run-rate.Five wickets become six when the promoted Ben Cutting gifted Brad Haddin a simple stumping and O’Keefe his third victim, and the total was still shy of three figures with just three overs remaining. Cameos from Peter Forrest and Nathan Hauritz ensured that the Sixers needed in excess of a run-a-ball for victory.Lumb and Brad Haddin resumed their opening combination that proved so successful in the Champions League to get the Sydney side off to a brisk start. Haddin looked in ominous touch with two sweetly struck boundaries and a six before chopping on to Alistair McDermott.Lumb then had to drop anchor as he watched both Nic Maddinson and Moises Henriques waste promising starts. Lumb had some luck too when he skied a ball from Hopes over short third man. Kemar Roach made exceptional ground and looked to have pouched it, only to stumble and propel the ball away to the rope for four.Steve Smith top-edged a bizarre overhead smash to mid-on next ball to leave the Sixers needing 29 runs from 29 deliveries. Daniel Hughes was also bounced out to make the equation a nervy 17 from 14. But Lumb stood tall and cracked Dan Christian over the midwicket fence to both ease the tension and raise his half-century.He would strike the winning runs powerfully through midwicket the following over to see his side home with six balls to spare.

Samit Patel awarded England increment

Samit Patel, the England and Nottinghamshire allrounder, has been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13

ESPNcricinfo staff23-Dec-2012Samit Patel, the England and Nottinghamshire allrounder, has been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13. Non-contracted players are awarded an increment contract once a player reaches 20 points during the 12-month contract period.”This contract reflects the contribution Samit has made to our T20 and Test teams this winter and we congratulate him on his achievement,” ECB national selector Geoff Miller said.Patel was part of the England squad on their tour of India and made 69 runs in four innings in three Tests. He was left out of the fourth Test in Nagpur. In the two-match Twenty20 series on the tour, he made 24 and 9.

Another No.1 battle commences

International cricket does not stand still. Four days after the Test mace changed hands the contest now turns to 50-over cricket and, again, the top prize is on offer

Four days after the Test mace changed hands the contest now turns to 50-over cricket and, again, the top prize is on offer. England are now ranked No. 1 in ODIs, but will lose that ranking after just one match if they are defeated in this opening game in Cardiff. Top in any format is like a hot potato at the moment.England have been on a fantastic run in one-dayers this year, beginning with a 4-0 whitewash against Pakistan before beating West Indies 2-0 and another 4-0 against Australia. Alastair Cook is moulding the side under his style, and further pushing his claim to be England’s Test captain sooner rather than later, and his leadership is gaining in confidence all the time.As a batsman, too, he is leading from the front which is where Andrew Strauss has struggled in Tests. Back-to-back hundreds against Pakistan were followed by another against West Indies and useful contributions elsewhere. Ian Bell, meanwhile, has proven a more-than-able replacement for Kevin Pietersen. It is often quite hard to know how the post-Test series one-dayers will develop, especially when one side, in this case South Africa, have achieved something so momentous. The Test players would have dearly liked more time to soak in their success and it would be understandable if minds were elsewhere. However, AB de Villiers, who captains the limited-overs team, will be keen that his squad sees this as a new challenge.Form guide (Most recent first, completed matches)
England WWWWW
South Africa WWWLLWatch out for…Matt Prior could not have done much more to stake his claim for a limited-overs recall with his recent performances for England and Sussex but, for now, Craig Kieswetter retains his place as the gloveman and middle-order batsman. Kieswetter has done nothing wrong since the one-dayers against Australia, so it would have been mighty tough to drop him, and he scored a hundred for England Lions against Australia A. But, despite a couple of handy innings, he is still to fully convince in his new role although his keeping is much more consistent. He spent quite a bit of the Test series prowling the covers but now we will get a chance to see all the sides of Faf du Plessis. He is a dynamic cricketer, whether with the bat or in the field, while his rolling legspin can be a useful addition if de Villiers needs to fill in some overs. He had a successful IPL opening the batting, but will probably be used in the middle order in the longer format. Those who have watched him in county cricket for Lancashire will know how destructive he can be.Team newsRavi Bopara is back in the England set-up after his personal problems and is likely to retain the No. 4 slot after his successful series against Australia despite his lack of recent time in the middle. His bowling brings added value. Earlier in the summer Cook was keen to play frontline bowlers wherever possible, but the absence of Stuart Broad may lead to a rethink and a role for Samit Patel.England (possible) 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Ian Bell, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Ravi Bopara, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 7 Samit Patel, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 James Anderson, 11 Steven FinnJacques Kallis has been rested for this series ahead of the World Twenty20, while there is no Vernon Philander in 50-over cricket, and a number of one-day specialists have been drafted into the squad, after preparing with South Africa A in Ireland, although the core group of players remains the same. Albie Morkel suffered a recurrence of his ankle injury against Gloucestershire although did bat later in the game.South Africa (possible) 1 Graeme Smith, 2 Hashim Amla, 3 Dean Elgar, 4 AB de Villiers (capt & wk), 5 JP Duminy, 6 Faf du Plessis, 7 Ryan McLaren, 8 Robin Petersen, 9 Dale Steyn, 10 Morne Morkel, 11 Lonwabo TsotsobePitch and conditionsPitches in Cardiff tend to be on the slow side and can help the spinners, but the short straight boundaries also encourage big hitting as Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow showed last year. The weather forecast is not great, with the chance of some rain during the day.Stats and trivia In 2008, after South Africa won the Test series 2-1, England took the one-day leg of the tour 4-0. The final match, at Cardiff, was washed out after three overs. If South Africa win this match they will become the first team to hold the No. 1 position in all three formats Graeme Swann needs four wickets to reach 100 in ODIs South Africa have not played an ODI since March 3 when they completed a 3-0 series win against New ZealandQuotes”For me personally it’s obviously a sad situation but as a side we need to put it to one side. We played some really good cricket at Lord’s even though we didn’t get the result; and to be fair he hasn’t been around the one-day squad for a while.”
“We want to play attacking, good cricket. I’d like to think of us as a team that has done fairly well under pressure so when we are put under pressure this series we will be looking to attack that’s for sure.”

Dawson dampens Leicestershire expectations

Part-time spinner Liam Dawson took three late wickets to undo Leicestershire’s good start on a rain-affected day

26-Apr-2012
ScorecardLeft-arm spinner Liam Dawson took three late wickets to enable Hampshire to finish in a much stronger position than they could have expected after Greg Smith’s bright half-century for Leicestershire. On a rain-ruined first day, play did not get under way until 2pm and at the close Leicestershire had slumped to 159 for 6 from 62.2 overs despite a promising start to their innings.Hampshire were led by former Australia international Simon Katich in the absence of Jimmy Adams, who missed the match for personal reasons, and Katich had no hesitation in fielding first in gloomy conditions. But Leicestershire found batting easier than they might have anticipated as bowlers struggled to cope with a wet ball and soaking outfield.Matthew Boyce and Smith put on 34 for the first wicket, while Jacques Du Toit made just 8 but his dismissal meant Smith was joined by captain Ramnaresh Sarwan in the best stand of the day, worth 81. Smith and Sarwan took the score to 146 for 2 before a late flurry of wickets following Dawson’s introduction to the attack saw four fall for 13.Smith was first to go, bowled by Dawson after an increasingly fluent innings of 68 from 168 balls and including seven fours. That was the signal for the Leicestershire collapse to begin, Dawson striking in his next over when Sarwan’s innings of 46 was ended by a slip catch by Sean Ervine.Kadeer Ali had his off stump knocked back by left-arm pace bowler Chris Wood before Dawson won an appeal for lbw against Nadeem Malik.Dawson came on as fourth change and only because Hampshire had chosen to leave out No. 1 spinner Danny Briggs, expecting the pitch to help their battery of pace bowlers. Dawson, who bowls only occasionally, ended the day with figures of 3 for 13.

Henriques helps Sixers to BBL title

ScorecardBrett Lee picked up two wickets in the first over of the match•Getty Images

The Sydney Sixers began the Big Bash League as one of the least fancied sides but they won the tournament after Moises Henriques set up their chase in the final against the Perth Scorchers. In front of a WACA crowd desperate to see the state’s first silverware – albeit not for the Warriors – in nearly a decade, the Sixers spoiled the party and won by seven wickets.Mitchell Marsh had excited the Perth fans with a powerful innings of 77 after Marcus North chose to bat, but Brett Lee helped contain the Scorchers to 5 for 156, which was a gettable, though challenging target. Henriques and Steve O’Keefe put together a 110-run opening stand in the chase and it was a start the home side was unable to pull back.A pair of wickets from Ben Edmondson late in the game gave the Scorchers a sniff, as the Sixers needed 22 from the final three overs. But the Sixers captain Steven Smith procured three boundaries and 15 in total from the next over, a poor one from Nathan Rimmington, and from there it was all very straightforward for the visitors. They reached their target with seven balls to spare, Smith striking the winning boundary down the ground off Ben Edmondson to finish unbeaten on 21 with Ben Rohrer on 3. Led by the 40-year-old Stuart MacGill and fellow veteran Brett Lee, the Sixers players streamed on to the field to celebrate their triumph, which came with no international imports in the final.Instead, it was two local allrounders who set the chase on the right path. O’Keefe struggled early, swinging wildly and missing plenty of deliveries as he battled to find his rhythm, but gradually he started to find the middle of the bat. O’Keefe drew confidence from a flat pull for six off Marsh’s medium pace, although he was still well behind the tempo of his partner Henriques, who brought up his half-century when O’Keefe had only 21.Henriques was especially brutal against the spin of Michael Beer, striking a pair of consecutive sixes over long-on and long-off, and he found gaps all around the ground. On 70 from 41 deliveries, Henriques was tricked by the 40-year-old spinner Brad Hogg, who saw Henriques advancing and sent the ball down the leg side for Luke Ronchi to complete the stumping.O’Keefe kept the chase going well until, on 48, he scooped a catch to short fine leg off Edmondson, two balls after Nic Maddinson (10) had also skied a catch. But Smith and Rohrer ensured the win for the Sixers, a victory that was also due to the bowling of Lee, whose 2 for 21 from four overs helped restrict the Scorchers to a manageable total.Lee began in the perfect way, with two wickets from the first over of the match. Herschelle Gibbs pulled the first ball of the game straight into the hands of deep square leg and later in the over, Ronchi took a big swipe and was caught behind to leave the Scorchers at 2 for 2. Marcus North steadied the home side until he top-edged a sweep off MacGill on 22.However, Marsh and Paul Collingwood formed a useful 62-run partnership, Collingwood paddling sweeps and reverse sweeps to cleverly find the gaps while Marsh used his strength to clear the boundary four times. Marsh took 12 off an Henriques over and launched a monster six over long-on off the bowling of O’Keefe.O’Keefe gave Marsh a life on 55 when he put down a chance at midwicket and in the next over, Marsh made the Sixers pay with a pair of sixes off Mitchell Starc. But Starc grabbed two wickets, Collingwood for 32 and Simon Katich for 12, and Marsh’s 77 not out from 57 deliveries was comfortably the standout performance. In the end, it wasn’t enough, as Henriques and O’Keefe made up for their lapses with the ball and in the field. Henriques was named Man of the Match.

Ryan Harris set for BBL return

The fast bowler Ryan Harris has been cleared to play for the Brisbane Heat in Tuesday’s Twenty20 Big Bash League match against the Melbourne Stars as he aims to prove his fitness for the Boxing Day Test

The fast bowler Ryan Harris has been cleared to play for the Brisbane Heat in Tuesday’s Twenty20 Big Bash League match against the Melbourne Stars as he aims to prove his fitness for the Boxing Day Test. Harris, 32, has spent the past five weeks recovering from a hip injury that ruled him out of the second Test of Australia’s tour of South Africa. The uncertainty over how his body would handle five days of cricket is likely to discourage Australia’s selectors from risking Harris in the Melbourne Test against India. However, Harris wants to give himself every chance of playing, having missed Australia’s past three Tests, which gave the young fast men James Pattinson and Pat Cummins an opportunity to shine.Cummins has been ruled out of the summer due to a heel injury, and Pattinson and Peter Siddle are expected to share the new ball against India. The third seamer’s position is less clear after the left-armer Mitchell Starc struggled to grab his chances during the New Zealand series, and while Harris is a proven Test performer, his body is notoriously fragile. He has been named to play for the Heat in Tuesday’s match at the Gabba, after completing a pair of club T20 matches in Brisbane’s grade competition at the weekend. Harris took 1 for 22 and 1 for 17 in the two outings, as well as snapping up a sharp catch and effecting a run-out from the infield, but it would be a major gamble for Australia to choose him for a Test with such little preparation.Cricket Australia’s team performance manager, Pat Howard, said earlier this month that rushing Harris back would not be in the long-term interests of the side. Before he suffered his hip injury during the Cape Town Test, Harris battled a hamstring strain that kept him out of the third Test against Sri Lanka, and he also has to manage a degenerative right knee.Last summer, he was struck down by an ankle injury that required surgery and kept him from completing the Ashes series. Since his debut early last year, Harris has played only eight of a possible 18 Tests, but his record of 35 wickets at an average of 21.37 shows that when fit he is a key part of Australia’s side. With no Sheffield Shield cricket scheduled until after the end of the Test series against India, Harris will need to make his case for a recall via the Big Bash League and club cricket.

Amir confirms playing for Surrey club

Mohammad Amir, the banned Pakistan fast bowler, has confirmed that he played for Addington in a Surrey Cricket League Division One match on June 4

Mohammad Amir: “I was informed that I was fine to play”•AFP

Mohammad Amir, the banned Pakistan fast bowler, has confirmed that he played for Addington in a Surrey Cricket League Division One match on June 4 but said that he took part only because he was told playing would not violate his ICC ban. His comments come in the wake of revelations in the that the ICC is investigating whether he violated his five-year ban for spot-fixing by turning out for Addington.”I was informed by club representatives before the game that it was a friendly match, being played on a privately owned cricket ground,” Amir told . “I asked the club representatives if the match fell under the jurisdiction of the ECB and they informed me that the match did not. I spoke to several club representatives about the issue and they all told me that it was a friendly match and therefore would not contravene my ban from the ICC. I was informed that I was fine to play.”Amir also denied that he had signed any registration documents with the club and insisted that he would never have taken the risk of playing had he known it was an official match.”I would not be stupid enough to knowingly play in a match that I knew would contravene my ban. Wherever I am going to play cricket, the world will know about it. I would not be stupid enough to play in a match where I knew that I would be taking a risk”.Amir was central to Addington’s 81-run victory in the game, against St Luke’s CC. He surprisingly opened the innings and scored 60 before returning figures of 4 for 9 in seven overs. This is not the first time Amir has appeared in a game which has had to be investigated by cricket authorities. Earlier this year in January, when he was under provisional suspension and still awaiting punishment for the Lord’s scandal, he turned out for a Rawalpindi club to play a friendly game. That prompted the ICC and PCB to investigate the nature of the game before the former eventually concluded that it was an unofficial game and the club wasn’t registered with the Rawalpindi cricket association; Amir was thus found to have not broken the ICC’s anti-corruption code of conduct.
