Leicester’s Ben Chilwell tweets hilarious picture of ex-teammate

[ad_pod ]Leaving a football club must be quite a difficult experience for some players. You make solid bonds with your teammates that can last a lifetime and all of a sudden you’re now living miles away from some of your closest friends.Luckily for Harry Maguire, he still gets to see some of his former Leicester City teammates while he’s on England duty.Watch Leicester City Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Indeed, Ben Chilwell and James Maddison were both in the England camp this time around, so Maguire had a chance to catch up with them.

Unfortunately, the time comes where Maguire has to once again leave his friends, and Chilwell posted an image that shows just how upset the centre-back was at this time.

It’s a sad sight. Maguire’s face is filled with despair, but the left-back comforted him by saying he will see him soon.

The pair will of course be reunited on Saturday as Leicester head to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

It seems as if Maguire is looking forward to playing against his old friends as he replied to Chilwell’s original tweet with some laughing emojis.

Nottingham Forest must lean on Albert Adomah after recent exploits

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s The Chalkboard series, which provides a tactical insight into teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

Nottingham Forest continued a run of decent form by defeating arch-rivals Derby in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

In doing so they progress into the third round, where the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool enter, and they also managed to retain the Brian Clough Trophy.

Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi made eight changes to the side that impressively saw off Fulham at Craven Cottage on the weekend with a mix of fringe and youth players being granted a start – including John Bostock, Brennan Johnson, and Rafa Mir.

Wing pairing Joe Lolley and Albert Adomah both got on the scoresheet alongside returning star Joao Carvalho, who had been out with an ankle injury.

On the Chalkboard

It was Adomah that particularly caught the eye yet again, doubling his goals and assists tally to two apiece despite it only being his third start of the season.

The 31-year-old must surely be pushing to claim a more regular starting berth sometime soon.

He assisted their goal in their only defeat of the season against West Brom on the opening day and certainly won them a point at Charlton Athletic last week with his boss describing the performance as ‘lucky.’

Adomah managed the full 90 against Derby and scored the opener before picking out Lolley with a pinpoint cross to double their lead.

The veteran winger is averaging 1.2 key passes per game in the league which is joint-third in the Forest squad even though he’s started just two Championship matches all season.

There can’t be many more players who know the division like he does having racked up 377 appearances in the English second flight, scoring 62 goals and assisting 63 more, per Transfermarkt.

Last season he was part of Aston Villa’s playoff winning squad, something Forest would ideally need to lean on if they want to achieve similar goals themselves this campaign.

Man City star Kevin De Bruyne takes to Instagram to share brilliant video

[ad_pod ]

Manchester City had the season of dreams in the 2018/19 campaign.

The Citizens and Pep Guardiola managed to clinch all four major domestic titles, making themselves the absolute kings of the Premier League.

But as much as that was a huge success and incredible joy for every City player, Kevin De Bruyne still probably wished for more.

[ad_pod ]

The great Belgian midfielder spent a big chunk of his season sidelined by various injuries. As a whole, five different injuries made De Bruyne miss a total of 29 games throughout the 2018/19.

And for that reason, the upcoming 2019/20 campaign is his way towards redemption.

De Bruyne took to

/B08RubLo41-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram to share a brilliant video, hyping up the new campaign and stating how the previous one will only motivate him more.

Due to his injuries, he was only able to participate in 32 games throughout all competitions last season, scoring six goals and assisting 11 in the process.

He is without a doubt eager to get back and prove himself once again, and this video can certainly attest to that.

Liverpool fans react after club reject chance to sign Marcos Llorente

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool confirmed their first signing of the transfer window on Thursday afternoon, bringing 17-year-old defender Sepp van den Berg to the club.

It looks as though it could be a quiet summer, however, after it was also revealed that they rejected the chance to sign Marcos Llorente.

The midfielder eventually signed for Atletico Madrid but per SER Deportivos, Liverpool turned down the opportunity to bring him to Anfield.

Reacting to news that he wasn’t a ‘priority’ for the Reds, one supporter claimed that it was a fair decision whilst another said they agreed with what Liverpool had done.

However, other supporters were concerned by their lack of activity in the window. One fan talked about squad depth, saying the club would be stuck with players like Adam Lallana, whilst a further individual simply said they still need to sign players.

Llorente is rated at £18m per Transfermarkt but only played seven times in La Liga ahead of his move to Atletico.

A defensive midfielder, it perhaps would have been a questionable signing anyway given they already have Fabinho in their ranks.

Transfer Focus: David Turnbull is a rare Scottish talent that Celtic can’t miss out on

[ad_pod ]

Celtic are weighing up making a bid for Motherwell midfield prospect David Turnbull, according to The Daily Mail.

What’s the story?

The paper say Celtic could compete with the likes of Brighton for his signature in the upcoming transfer window. Motherwell though are prepared to hold firm, valuing him in the region of £3m, the report states.

Turnbull signed a deal that keeps him at Fir Park until 2021 earlier this year, so the Steelmen certainly hold the cards when it comes to his departure, but with big clubs circling Turnbull could have played his last game for the club.

The Mail reckon Lennon wants to make him one of his first signings when he returns from a close season holiday.

Keith from C’mon the Hoops throws back to a former Celtic and Ireland star in the video below…

Is he good enough?

Turnbull certainly appears to have as much potential as any young player coming out of the Scottish top-flight in recent years.

An incredible debut campaign with ‘Well was punctuated with 15 goals and 6 assists, used as a key central focus point in Stephen Robinson’s team which really hit its stride after the winter break.

That lethal touch in the final third makes him an excellent fit for the Celtic midfield, which needs direct competition to Tom Rogic heading into the new season.

Still just 19 years of age, he could grow into an elite player surrounded by better teammates and coaches at Celtic.

Celtic’s transfer approach

The Hoops should take the lessons of last summer’s failed move for John McGinn that at this stage looks like a serious misstep in transfer policy.

Having pursued the player for a number of months, Celtic eventually lost out to Aston Villa. McGinn has gone on to have a player of the year calibre season with the Villans, their best performer as they gained promotion to the English Premier League.

The Mail claim that Motherwell have named their price for Turnbull, so if Celtic truly want him they should meet that valuation and prevent history repeating itself.

They can’t afford to miss out on another excellent Scottish talent heading to England.

Transfer Focus: Bielsa’s Lazio history may push him into Roma job

[ad_pod ]

Ever since Leeds were beaten in the playoff semi-finals by Derby County, there have been question marks raised over the future of Marcelo Bielsa at the club.

The Argentine has had a tendency to leave clubs after a short period of time. Due to this, fans and pundits alike are worried that he may not be in the dugout at Elland Road next year.

In recent days the Whites boss has been linked with a move to Serie A to take charge of Roma, and he may have an incentive to take charge at the Giallorossi considering his history in that league.

Bielsa at Lazio

If the 63-year-old was to take the Roma job, then it wouldn’t be his first time managing in the Italian capital. Although his reign was short-lived, Bielsa managed Lazio back in 2016 for just two days.

When any manager departs a team after just 48 hours it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that he mustn’t have left on the best of terms.

The former Marseille boss stated that he felt he wouldn’t be backed in the transfer market and that the club would fail to bring in the necessary additions for the Argentine to be successful.

The Italian club then attempted to sue their former boss for a sum of €50 million, so it may be fair to assume there is a certain amount of bad blood between the manager and his former club.

Get one over them

If Bielsa is a man to hold a grudge, is there any better way to get one over his old employers than by guiding their arch-rivals to success?

The two Rome clubs have a hatred for each other which is well documented, and nothing would infuriate Lazio fans more than seeing their former boss guide Roma to silverware.

The current Leeds boss’ short stay at the Biancocelesti also meant that he didn’t get a proper chance to manage in Italy.

Bielsa is well versed to managing throughout Europe, and in joining Lazio he showed a desire to try his hand in Serie A. He never got that chance in 2016, but he is now being presented with the perfect opportunity to right those wrongs.

Pundit View: Danny Mills highlights four players who will be key for Leeds in the playoffs

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United will need to call on their key men to put in solid performances if they are to secure promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs.

Speaking to Football Insider, former England defender Danny Mills has highlighted the four players he believes will need to be at their best if the Whites are to be triumphant in the post-season.

Which players?

Mills has highlighted the central spine of the team as the area which needs to step up and make an impact in these matches.

“My fear for Leeds is whether they can perform when the pressure is on,” Mills told Football Insider.

“The big players need to deliver against Derby, starting on Saturday.

“Kemar Roofe needs to have a good game. Scoring goals and converting chances has been a bit of a problem for Leeds.

“The two central defenders, Jansson and Liam Cooper, need to play well. Kalvin Phillips is key. If he gets dragged out of position, Leeds are very vulnerable.

“The full-backs and midfielders bomb on, and if Phillips is not there to protect the centre-backs, there is suddenly a huge gap to exploit, and they are outnumbered.”

Spot on

The ex-Leeds player is spot on with his summary of who needs to step up.

Kalvin Phillips, in particular, has absolutely no margin for error in these games. The 23-year-old has been the most dependable player at Elland Road all season.

Derby have an incredible amount of creative talent going forward, with Frank Lampard having Mason Mount, Harry Wilson and Tom Lawrence at his disposal.

Coming up against players of that calibre represents a daunting task for any defensive midfielder in the league. If Phillips is at his very best, he should be able to cope, but he can’t afford a single slip up when he comes up against the Rams.

Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper have been a solid centre-back partnership this season, but the Swede’s tendency to make brash decisions could be costly for the Whites.

Marcelo Bielsa needs to make sure that his centre-half keeps a cool head against Derby and doesn’t make any stupid mistakes.

Kemar Roofe’s poor run has been well documented, and it’s clear to see where he needs to improve. The striker is still the club’s top scorer this season, so he is more than capable of finding the back of the net.

These four players may well have the deciding say on whether or not Leeds go up, but they will have to step up amidst the pressure of the playoffs.

Opinion: Chelsea would be foolish to accept insulting bids for Reece James

Transfer ban or no transfer ban, one area Maurizio Sarri needs to try fine-tune at Chelsea in the summer is right-back.

This season, Cesar Azpilicueta has been on a rapid decline, while Davide Zappacosta has just not cut it at Stamford Bridge.

Bearing that in mind, Sarri would be crazy to overlook Reece James next term after the incredible campaign he has been having in the Championship with Wigan Athletic.

And thankfully, to the relief of Chelsea supporters, it does not look like that is going to be the case.

The Sun reports the Blues have rejected a £10m bid from Brighton for James, with the 19-year-old now being tipped to challenge Azpilicueta for that right-back position, a challenge he could so easily win.

Compared to the 29-year-old, James comes across as a much better fit for the way Sarri wants to play.

Technically, the Wigan loanee is a far superior footballer to Azpilicueta. To put things into perspective, his ability on the ball is so good that Paul Cook has been playing him in midfield.

Considering that ability, James is exactly the sort of player you want at right-back during attacks. Defensively, many will argue that Azpilicueta’s experience and 1v1 defending still makes him No.1, though.

But after a season where he has actually been poor in that area, as well as in attack, now looks the perfect time for him to make way for someone like James.

Therefore, insulting £10m bids like the one Brighton have reportedly made, must continue to be rejected.

James, an incredibly gifted footballer, is Chelsea’s present and future.
