Sunil Gavaskar will head the BCCI in respect of its IPL functions, and a vice-president of the board will carry out other duties, the Supreme Court has said. It also said, at the hearing of the IPL corruption case on Friday, that the IPL 2014 could continue with all teams participating.The BCCI later said that Shivlal Yadav, the board’s senior-most vice-president, will carry out the non-IPL functions. The court’s interim order said employees of India Cements must have no role in the BCCI except as players or commentators.It also said Gavaskar could appoint people of his confidence, and could decide on IPL COO Sundar Raman’s continuance in that role. It directed that Gavaskar should be released from his contractual obligations with the BCCI as a commentator but said he should be compensated for his new role.”I am deeply humbled and honoured that the Honourable Supreme Court of India has entrusted me with the job of being the interim president of the BCCI till the end of IPL 7,” Gavaskar said. “Like with my cricket, I will give it my best shot.”Dual roles in BCCI/IPL and India Cements

It’s not yet clear what role Gavaskar will play as interim president during the IPL, given that the tournament has an established and experienced management structure in place. “The BCCI president is like a guiding force as far as the IPL is concerned,” Sanjay Patel, the board secretary, told ESPNcricinfo. “The IPL has been run by its Governing Council in collaboration with the chairman and the CEO. That will continue, the management structure will remain the same.”Patel, who is also part of the IPL governing council, said the only question that needed to be resolved was Sundar Raman’s role. “The only issue is whether Gavaskar would like the services of Sundar Raman. That is what the court stated today,” Patel said. He said he would be meeting Gavaskar soon to work out a plan.”The court suggested that for probity, for the public perception of an investigation that if Mr Srinivasan was, as the managing director of Indian Cements, concerned with the team which was under investigation, for the time being during the investigations he should not discharge the functions. The BCCI considered this and felt that it was perfectly right and can be done and Mr Srinivasan himself made that offer,” BCCI counsel CA Sundaram said.He said the BCCI was “very, very glad” that the court had not suspended the IPL or Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. “We were keen that all the teams should participate at this juncture, inasmuch as there has not yet been any kind of final decision as to whether the franchisees were responsible and if so what action should be taken. We felt that this was not the time to stop them from playing and for the effectiveness of the IPL all eight teams playing at this juncture was important.”The two-judge bench of AK Patnaik and Ibrahim Kalifulla made it clear that it would reserve its final judgement till all hearings are complete. The next hearing will be on April 16, when the BCCI counsel would be given the first opportunity to present his arguments against the submissions made by the CAB. According to Sundaram it will take at least a “few more” hearings to get more clarity.The case dates back to June 2013, when the Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma raised charges of conflict of interest in the formation of BCCI’s two-member inquiry panel into the IPL corruption issue. A Bombay High Court ruling later termed the probe panel “illegal”. The BCCI and the CAB filed petitions in the Supreme Court against this order, with the CAB contending that the Bombay High Court could have suggested a fresh mechanism to look into the corruption allegations.The Supreme Court then appointed a three-member committee, headed by former High Court judge Mukul Mudgal and comprising additional solicitor general L Nageswara Rao and Assam Cricket Association member Nilay Dutta, in October 2013, to conduct an independent inquiry into the allegations of corruption against Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, India Cements, and Rajasthan Royals team owner Jaipur IPL Cricket Private Ltd, as well as with the larger mandate of allegations around betting and spot-fixing in IPL matches and the involvement of players. The committee had submitted its findings to the court on February 10.

Kolkata Knight Riders coach Trevor Bayliss has said Chris Lynn’s performance with the bat and in the field against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah on Thursday night was an extension of his good form in the Big Bash League. Lynn scored 45 off 31 balls for Knight Riders and then took a blinder in the outfield in the final over to get rid of AB de Villiers when Royal Challengers needed six off the last three balls.Lynn, the right-handed batsman, scored 198 runs in eight games with two fifties for Brisbane Heat in the BBL. Lynn, who was only playing his second IPL game, hit three sixes and Bayliss said he was capable of clearing the big boundaries.”What you saw tonight was only a little bit of what he produced in the BBL. He had an unbelievable season with Heat this year,” Bayliss said. “Obviously, different wickets to what he plays at home, some of the balls were keeping low and some didn’t come on like in his home ground at the Gabba. For a little fellow he has got a power game. He hits the ball as big as anyone that I have seen and as we have also seen, a fantastic fielder as well.”Lynn was fielding at deep midwicket when de Villiers looked to slog Vinay Kumar over the rope. Lynn, however, slipped and fell before the ball got to him but had the presence of mind to gather himself quickly, arch backwards and catch the ball behind his head while still within the boundary. I tried my best not to touch the boundary ropes and I am happy I could catch that one.”Vinay held his nerve in the death overs, conceding only seven runs in the 18th over and six in the final over with nine required, as Royal Challengers still looked the favourites to win, with plenty of wickets in hand. Vinay said he enjoyed bowling at the death and said he would take a lot of confidence from this performance.”I love to bowl in the end overs. Last season as well I had defended 10 runs against Mumbai Indians,” Vinay said. “These kind of matches make you a better bowler. When I face these situations when playing for India, I won’t feel under so much pressure because I know that if I can do it in the IPL, I can do it for the Indian team as well.”I had different plans for different batsmen. I knew if I bowled to Albie [Morkel] to his strengths, then he would hit me out of the park. I needed to bowl in the areas that would make it difficult for him to hit. I varied my pace on the first ball to Morkel, then bowled at a good length to AB, and then bowled outside off to Morkel and got AB’s wicket off the next ball.”When asked about how the team managed to stay cool under pressure, Bayliss said the sessions with the explorer Mike Horn before the tournament had helped. “We had Mike Horn with us before the competition started and one of the things he spoke about was to always stay in the competition and always give yourself a chance,” Bayliss said. “To be honest, we have spoken about that in the last couple of years and I thought we did that well today.”

Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire’s director of cricket, is to succeed Ashley Giles as a member of the England selection panel. Giles was overlooked for the England head coach’s position, losing his job in charge of the limited-overs teams as a result, and he has now decided he will no longer continue as a selector.Giles had been a selector since 2008, at first combining the role with being Warwickshire’s director of cricket. He was made England’s limited-overs coach at the end of 2012, with Andy Flower focusing on the Test team, but lost out to Peter Moores during the ECB’s recruitment process to appoint a successor to Flower who would regain control across all three formats.Newell, who was also interviewed for the head coach’s position, he will join the selection panel with immediate effect, working alongside James Whitaker, Angus Fraser and Moores. Like Fraser, who is Middlesex’s director of cricket, and Giles before him, Newell will retain his county role.”Ashley Giles has informed ECB today that he intends to step down from the panel and I would like to thank him for all his hard work and dedication to the England cause over the past six years both as a selector, and more recently as our limited-overs coach,” Whitaker said.”We welcome Mick to the panel and his passion, cricketing knowledge and in-depth understanding of our county game will be invaluable as we seek to identify potential international talent and develop outstanding England teams across all three formats of the game.”Newell is the longest-serving coach on the county circuit, having been in charge at Trent Bridge since 2002. MAICON – GRÊMIO
Contratado pelo São Paulo do Figueirense, em 2012, foi outro que sentiu o gosto de ser campeão da Copa Sul-Americana. No entanto, foi alvo de protestos da torcida e acabou saindo do clube pela porta do fundo. Foi emprestado ao Grêmio e em seguida teve sua permanência em definitivo garantida. De lá para cá conquistou cinco títulos: Copa do Brasil, Copa Libertadores, Recopa Sul-Americana e dois Campeonatos Gaúchos.

LUCAS PRATTO – RIVER PLATE-ARG
​Anunciado como principal reforço do São Paulo em fevereiro de 2017, proveniente do Atlético-MG, Pratto não teve uma temporada dos sonhos no Morumbi, apesar de ter ajudado o clube a fugir do rebaixamento e terminar o ano como artilheiro do time. No começo de 2018, recebeu proposta do River Plate e não titubeou em ir para a Argentina. Desde então, foi campeão da Supercopa Argentina, da Copa Libertadores e da Recopa Sul-Americana.

HUDSON – CRUZEIRO
Chegou ao São Paulo em 2014, já durante o período de jejum, e teve uma passagem de altos e baixos até o início de 2017, quando foi emprestado ao Cruzeiro. Enquanto ficou no clube mineiro, conquistou a Copa do Brasil, porém retornou ao Tricolor no término do vínculo e não venceu outro título desde então. Atualmente é um dos principais nomes do elenco são-paulino.

DENIS – FIGUEIRENSE
​Foi contratado pelo São Paulo em 2009 para ser reserva e possível substituto de Rogério Ceni. Fez parte do elenco que conquistou a Copa Sul-Americana, mas quando o ídolo Ceni se aposentou não atingiu as expectativas e diante das reclamações da torcida, acabou deixando o clube e foi jogar no Figueirense, em 2018. Logo em seguida foi campeão catarinense e até hoje é titular da equipe.

CÍCERO – GRÊMIO
Teve sua primeira passagem pelo São Paulo entre 2011 e 2012, e fez parte do elenco campeão da Copa Sul-Americana, último título oficial do clube. Em 2017, retornou por um breve período, mas rescindiu seu contrato e acabou indo jogar no Grêmio, onde na mesma temporada foi campeão da Copa Libertadores, marcando gol na primeira partida da final da competição. Atualmente defende o Botafogo.

OUTROS CASOS
​Araruna – Revelado pelo São Paulo, em 2019 foi campeão da Copa do Nordeste e do Campeonato Cearense pelo Fortaleza, clube para o qual está emprestado.

Cortez – Não conseguiu se firmar no São Paulo, foi recuperado por Renato Gaúcho no Grêmio e já conquistou quatro títulos pelo clube gaúcho.

Paulo Miranda – Ficou quatro temporadas no São Paulo, venceu a Sul-Americana, foi negociado com o RB Salzburg, e depois retornou ao Brasil para o Grêmio, onde conquistou três títulos.

Buffarini – Trazido como solução para a lateral direita, não conseguiu ter sequência. Foi jogar no Boca Juniors e conquistou o Campeonato Argentino.

Marcinho – Passou pelo São Paulo em 2017, por empréstimo. Não continuou no clube e foi atuar no Athletico-PR, onde conquistou a Copa Sul-Americana-2018.

Shaylon – Promessa da Chapecoense comprada pelo São Paulo, não teve sequência e acabou emprestado em 2019 para ganhar rodagem no Bahia e conquistou o título do Campeonato Baiano.

Ajmal finished the match with combined figures of 8 for 100 from 46.3 overs, the statistics alone indicating his pivotal role.Worcestershire felt no need to add to the mammoth 432 for nine first-innings tally racked up on day three, declaring at the start of the final day’s action. That sent Derbyshire into their second innings trailing by 213 runs, and Worcestershire did not need long to close in on victory.Only Wayne Madsen offered credible resistance as the hosts took control, the Derbyshire captain battling to make 56 from 139 balls. After his unbeaten 111 in Derbyshire’s disappointing first-innings total of 219, he could have been forgiven for despairing at his misfiring team-mates.Gareth Andrew removed opener Stephen Moore caught by Daryl Mitchell for 4 and Charles Morris trapped Billy Godleman leg before for 10, before removing the key figure Shivnarine Chanderpaul for just 4, caught by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.Ajmal then claimed a three-wicket burst to help his side lay one hand on the victory.
