O Vasco conseguiu o primeiro ponto nesta edição do Campeonato Brasileiro.

MacLeod blasts record Scotland score

Calum MacLeod made the second highest score by an Associate player in an ODI and third highest by an Associate player in List A cricket in a 170-run romp over Canada to seal a place for Scotland in the Super Sixes

Calum MacLeod scored 175 off 141 balls in Scotland’s victory against Canada•ICC

Calum MacLeod made the second highest score by an Associate player in an ODI and third highest by an Associate player in List A cricket in a 170-run romp over Canada to seal a place for Scotland in the Super Sixes and put an end to Canada’s consecutive World Cup streak dating back to 2003. Scotland join UAE and Hong Kong from Group A in the Super Sixes.Canada won the toss and sent Scotland in to bat in the hopes of restricting them to a low total that they could chase down quickly to pass Scotland on net run rate. MacLeod erased any chance of that happening with 175 off 141 balls in Scotland’s total of 341 for 9.Matt Machan teamed up with MacLeod to add 144 for the second wicket and MacLeod looked to have a rare ODI double-century in his sights before perishing on the first ball of the 46th over to Khurram Chohan – who finished with 5 for 68. MacLeod was left to settle for the highest score by a Scotland player in an ODI.Canada never threatened to chase Scotland’s hefty total, especially after opening bowlers Iain Wardlaw and Rob Taylor wiped out the top four to leave Canada at 42 for 4. Wicketkeeper Matty Cross had a terrific day behind the stumps, taking six catches and also effecting two runouts. Hamza Tariq was last man out for 71 as Canada succumbed for 171 in 39.2 overs. Taylor, Wardlaw and Safyaan Sharif all finished with two wickets apiece for Scotland.Irfan Karim produced a scintillating 108 for Kenya to pave the way for a stunning four-wicket upset of Netherlands on Thursday at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln. The defeat put Netherlands in fourth place in Group B, denying them a spot in the Super Sixes. Kenya go into the next stage from Group B, along with Papua New Guinea and Namibia.Netherlands, the pre-tournament favourites were sent in to bat by Kenya, as the latter team looked for the best chance to progress on net run rate. Wesley Barresi scored 137 not out for Netherlands and was part of a 136-run second wicket partnership with Eric Szwarczynski that spanned 30.4 overs. Netherlands entered the final 10 overs of their innings on 188 for 3, but their steady pace from the start of the innings and an overall lack of a sense of urgency came back to haunt them in the end as they finished on 265 for 5.Kenya needed to achieve the target in 36.1 overs to leapfrog over Netherlands on net run rate into third place in Group B. While Barresi’s first innings ton consumed 150 balls, Karim torched the Netherlands attack to reach his century with his 15th four off just 81 balls. He received excellent support from Ragheb Aga (86) and the pair added 148 for the second wicket in 20.2 overs. Karim was the third wicket to fall with the score 240 in the 32nd over, leaving Kenya with 26 to score in 4.5 overs in order to pass Netherlands on net run rate. After a brief flurry of wickets, captain Rakep Patel and Steve Tikolo held their nerve, striking a pair of boundaries as part of a 13-run 35th over to make it 262 for 5 entering the 36th. Ahsan Malik removed Patel on the first ball of the 36th, but singles came off the next three deliveries before the winning run arrived off a wide. Kenya reached the target with room to spare in 35.4 overs. The win keeps Kenya’s hopes of maintaining their World Cup streak alive.Patel later said the win was a relief. “There was a lot of pressure on the boys today. They really performed and got us through to the next round,” he said. “Chasing 265 could have been very difficult. But the way Irfan Karim and Ragheb Aga batted today was very good, and Collins Obuya finished things off nicely. This win means a lot to the team, and to everyone back home. The boys have believed in themselves and changed their own luck. The senior players are displaying real leadership and commitment.”Netherlands captain Peter Borren admitted the lack of runs in the last 10 overs had made the match difficult for the side.”A lot went wrong today, in the field particularly. Their two batsmen played beautifully, and we didn’t respond well,” Borren said. “We probably didn’t get enough runs in our last ten overs. We could have killed them off there with wickets in hand. But they bowled well and we struggled to get it away. That was pretty crucial.”Papua New Guinea opener Lega Siaka scored his second century of the tournament to ensure his side finished atop Group B courtesy of an eight-wicket thrashing of Namibia at Mount Maunganui. Namibia won the toss and chose to bat first but were under pressure immediately after Pipi Raho and PNG captain Chris Amini nipped out two wickets each in their opening spells to leave Namibia at 16 for 4 in the sixth over.Gerrie Snyman provided Namibia’s best resistance with 54 at number six, but lacked any genuine support. Snyman was dismissed by Mahuru Dai in the 41st over to make it 137 for 8 before Namibia were eventually bowled out for 163 in 48.4 overs. Siaka’s 112 not out dominated the chase and PNG’s next best score was Assad Vala’s 16. PNG needed only half of the allotted overs to reach the target and vaulted to the top of the group in the process.Lega Siaka scored a match-winning century for Papua New Guinea•ICC

UAE prevented Hong Kong from going undefeated in Group A, defeating their Asian rivals by 22 runs. UAE won the toss and batted and captain Khurram Khan led the way with 78. Khan’s team-mates wasted the platform he laid for them as his dismissal in the 39th over sparked a mini collapse. UAE went from 185 for 4 to be bowled out for 249 in 48.1 overs. Haseeb Amjad led the way with the ball for Hong Kong taking 3 for 33.Manjula Guruge dismissed the dangerous Irfan Ahmed early in the chase. The best partnership in the innings was 49 for the third wicket between Waqas Barkat (24) and Mark Chapman (59) as Hong Kong lost wickets at regular intervals and struggled to sustain any momentum. Guruge finished with 4 for 39 as Hong Kong was bowled out in the final over for 227.Entering the Super Sixes, Papua New Guinea has a distinct advantage on the other five teams, carrying over four points into the next phase by virtue of their wins over Kenya and Namibia during play in Group B. Kenya has the biggest hill to climb carrying zero points forward after losses to Papua New Guinea and Namibia. Scotland, UAE, Hong Kong and Namibia all carry two points forward from the group stage into the Super Six phase, which begins on Sunday.

Após virada histórica, Fernando Diniz acredita no crescimento do Flu

-Nosso time soube sofrer.

No sábado, o Fluminense encara o rival Botafogo, no Maracanã.

Misbah demands better application

Pakistan are down 0-1 against Sri Lanka and the captain Misbah-ul-Haq hopes to square the series before going into a nine-month Test drought.

Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, wants his side to put in extra effort to win the final Test against Sri Lanka in Sharjah. Pakistan are down 0-1 and are hoping to square the series before going into a nine-month Test drought. This is Pakistan’s fifth series since trouncing England 3-0 almost two years ago, but they are yet to record another series win.”It’s a do or die situation for us,” said Misbah. “We have to put some effort and get the result we want to level the series and there is no other option for us. We really need to be proactive and really need to put a good show.”The pitches have been a concern for Pakistan during the series as Misbah and spinner Saeed Ajmal rued the lack of home advantage. The surface at Sharjah looked flat and once again became the focal point. Though Misbah was reluctant to comment on pitch, he did tip the surface to be result-oriented. A fair assessment considering there has been only one draw in the five matches played here. Pakistan have won two of their three games at Sharjah.”In my opinion this looks a good pitch and I think you get spin on the pitches here and the team which plays better and shows patience will have more chance,” he said. “We get some strange results here but you really need to apply yourself more effectively and play better disciplined cricket. Whatever we need to do in terms of strategies and in terms of our abilities, we have to apply hard.”Pakistan have persisted with the same combination in the first two games despite Rahat Ali’s place under serious question before the Dubai Test. He has bowled more than 100 overs in the series for just two wickets with limited impact.”Nothing can be done if we let pressure take over, if we feel worried and panic, then it will not help,” Misbah said. “We will try to improve in areas where we didn’t do well and we should improve on areas where we struggled so we have worked on them and will try to improve them”Pakistan are struggling for stability in their top order, which has been a major concern. Their line-up is heavily reliant on Misbah along with Younis Khan but the Pakistan captain backed his batsmen to perform. “It happens in Test cricket, if you look at the previous Test, it was a seaming pitch in Abu Dhabi and our top order did well,” he said. “But it happens and you can’t say after one match that there are so many problems, two innings can go bad for anyone and the new ball is always difficult to face. So we are not worried about that very much.””I think they [Sri Lanka] bowled really well, they bowled within their limits and the conditions were like they used to play in Sri Lanka, a bit of movement was there but full credit to them, they bowled good lines and lengths and that was the key for them.”

Group AHaris Sohail scored a 44-ball 66 to set up a 72-run win for Sialkot Stallions over Quetta Bears in Islamabad. Sialkot, who chose to bat first, were propelled towards a total of 154 for 8 by Sohail’s 44-ball knock, which included three fours and five sixes, and a 34-ball 33 from Shakeel Ansar. The middle and lower-order didn’t contribute too much, with offspinner Fareeduddin coming on as fifth-change and picking up four wickets in two overs.Even so, a target of 155 proved well beyond Quetta, who crawled to 82 for 9 in their 20 overs. Nazar Hussain, coming in at No. 9, ensured his side wouldn’t be bowled out, scoring a 27-ball 26 with a four and two sixes. Medium-pacer Hasan Ali and left-arm spinner Raza Hasan took three wickets each for Sialkot.Group BKashif Naved scored a 26-ball 44 and took three wickets in two overs as Multan Tigers beat Rawalpindi Rams by 2 runs in a thriller in Rawalpindi. After Naved had had two batsmen stumped with his left-arm spin in the 14th over of the chase, Rawalpindi were left needing 62 runs in 37 balls, with only three wickets in hand. From there, Yasim Murtaza smashed a 12-ball 21 in a partnership of 25 with Mohammad Nawaz before he became Naved’s third victim. This left Rawalpindi with 37 to get from 21 balls.Jamal Anwar then continued from where Murtaza had left off. It came down to 18 from six balls, and, after Jamal struck two fours in Rizwan Haider’s final over, five to get off the last ball. Anwar could only manage two.Sent in to bat, Multan’s openers, Zain Abbas and Zeeshan Ashraf, set them up for a big score by putting on 71 in 9.1 overs. Sohaib Maqsood scored a 21-ball 32, Naved a 26-ball 44 with six fours and two sixes, and Gulraiz Sadaf an unbeaten 11-ball 29 to power them to 183 for five.Group CImran Khan took three wickets to help Peshawar Panthers beat Lahore Eagles by seven wickets in Rawalpindi. After Peshawar elected to field, right-arm seamer Imran dismissed both openers to leave Lahore struggling on 3 for 2 in the third over. Kamran Akmal led a brief recovery, scoring 21 off 16 deliveries, but once he was dismissed, Lahore never quite recovered. They lost regular wickets and were 64 for 7 in the 15th over. Mohammad Khalil, the No. 9, lifted Lahore with 22 in 13 balls, but he was caught behind off Imran. Lahore weren’t bowled out, but finished on a below-par 104 for 9.Peshawar’s chase wasn’t straightforward. They lost three wickets in a hurry to go from 21 for 0 to 30 for 3, but Mohammad Fayyaz and Adil Amin scripted an unbroken 77-run stand that took Peshawar home with 27 balls to spare. Fayyaz was not out on a 38-ball 35 while Amin made an unbeaten 25-ball 40, with two fours and two sixes.Group DYasir Hameed and Younis Khan scored breezy unbeaten half-centuries to power Abbottabad Falcons to a massive 200 for 1, a score that proved well beyond Bahawalpur Stags’ reach. Abbottabad won by 77 runs.Bahawalpur might have regretted their decision to field first, after Hameed and Younis put on an unbroken 169-run partnership for the second wicket. Hameed struck 11 fours and a six in his unbeaten 68-ball 97, while Younis smashed six fours and two sixes in a 47-ball 71 as Abbottabad galloped along at 10 an over.In reply, Bahawalpur never got going. They were 49 for six, before Ansar Javed’s unbeaten 32 and Faisal Mubashir’s 29 helped them cross 100. In the end, they finished on 123 for eight. For Abbottabad, left-arm spinner Khalid Usman took three wickets.
