But the former Surrey player was determined to put that campaign behind him and showed commendable application in a tough situation.Will Gidman matched it and together they gradually put Gloucestershire back inthe game. Former Durham player Gidman was first to his half-century, off 120balls, with seven fours, and Batty’s fifty soon followed, off 147 deliveries,with five boundaries.Their century stand was brought up in 42 overs, without either giving a chance.Gloucestershire’s previous best sixth-wicket partnership against Derbyshire was114, achieved twice by Jack Russell, with Tim Hancock and Matt Windows as hispartners.The 58-over stand finally ended against the second new ball when Gidmanattempted to glance Clare and was caught down the leg side by Luke Sutton. Hehad faced 176 balls and hit 12 fours. But Batty was still there at the close, having batted for more than four hours to justify the decision to drop him into the middle order.

وتابع: “سننتظر ونرى كيف تتطور المفاوضات حتى نهاية العام، كما يجب أن يفهم الجميع، التفاوض مع رونالدو أمر هائل، ليس فقط للنادي ولكن من أجل البلد والكرة العالمية، تشرف عليها جهات عليا”.

The 148th edition of Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, launched today, reflects on a year of dramatic contrasts for the game, from the soul-searching that accompanied the Pakistan spot-fixing scandal at Lord’s, to the near-perfection of England’s Ashes campaign in Australia. But between those extremes, one of the game’s most constant presences is recognised for attaining new heights of brilliance.In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar enjoyed a year that even by his own exalted standards was phenomenal. He hit over 1,500 Test runs and seven Test hundreds, including an unparalleled 50th. Tendulkar also became the first to hit a one-day international double-hundred. Wisden acknowledges his greatness by naming him as the Leading Cricketer in the World for 2010.It’s the first time Tendulkar has won the award since it started in 2004, although Wisden 2007 identified him as the player who would have won such an award for 1998 – had it been devised then. Ramachandra Guha traces the three phases of Tendulkar’s career, and reveals that he is held in such esteem by the Australians that they do not sledge him; and by his team-mates so that the Indian dressing-room, once riven by turf wars and petty jealousies, is now calm.With the ongoing criminal investigation restricting Wisden’s reporting of the spot-fixing affair, the decision to name just four Cricketers of the Year instead of the usual five is a subtle but damning verdict on a summer that turned sour. Elsewhere in the book, Paul Kelso carefully pieces together the events before, during and after the England-Pakistan Test at Lord’s last August, while Rob Crilly visits an illicit gambling den overlooking the slums of Lahore.Crilly’s arresting first-hand account brings to light a murky world that will prove difficult to dismantle. “The den was in full swing the day after Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif had received lengthy bans for their role in the spot-fixing scandal. Yet nobody thought the punishments would help clean up Pakistani cricket.” One of the gamblers could hardly have been clearer: “I don’t think this will put people off getting involved in fixing.”Writing from Pakistan on the reaction to the sanctions applied to the three Pakistan cricketers by the ICC, ESPNcricinfo’s Osman Samiuddin reveals the power of denial. He reports on how Mohammad Amir, especially, was greeted more as a rock star than a cheat, and how the actual events were lost in the world of feverish conspiracy theories.If England’s home season was utterly overshadowed by the affair, they made sure that their cricket made all the headlines in Australia three months later. In his fourth year as Wisden’s editor, Scyld Berry hails the team’s Ashes performance by saying it was “hard to think of a sizeable human organisation that has come closer to perfection for a couple of months than England’s cricket team during the Ashes”.Their achievements, however, were immediately undermined by the ensuing limited-overs series that saw England play two Twenty20 internationals and seven one-day internationals, before flying half-way round the world to pause for breath at home – and then, four days later, heading for the World Cup. “Unsurprisingly,” says Berry, “the players, especially the bowlers, fell like flies.”The former England captain, Michael Vaughan, and the former Australian legspinner, Kerry O’Keeffe, complement the Almanack’s coverage of the Ashes. “The key difference,” Vaughan believes, “between the two teams lay in their spine. England had an excellent pair of opening batsmen and opening bowlers, a very good wicketkeeper in Matt Prior, and a captain who led by example.” By contrast, the “Australian attack had no X-factor”. O’Keeffe castigates the Australians for their poor preparation – “a little like swimming the English Channel to tune up for the London Marathon” – and berates the Aussies’ lack of determination: “England counted their batting in hours (and days). O São Paulo pode ganhar o reforço de Éder Militão e Nenê para a partida decisiva contra o Rosario Central, na próxima quarta (9), pela Copa Sul-Americana. A dupla, que estava no Reffis tratando de dores musculares, foi a campo no treino desta terça e passará por uma reavaliação médica. Caso a resposta seja positiva, o técnico Diego Aguirre poderá relacioná-los para o confronto diante da equipe argentina.
No último treinamento do São Paulo antes do jogo eliminatório pela Copa Sul-Americana, a comissão técnica permitiu que os jornalistas acompanhassem apenas o aquecimento dos jogadores, durante os 15 minutos iniciais. Dúvidas para a partida, Militão e Nenê calçaram chuteiras e participaram das atividades com os demais jogadores do elenco.
A dupla não teve lesão detectada e trata de dores musculares. O departamento médico os liberou para trabalhar com bola e, caso não sintam dores durante as atividades no CT da Barra Funda, poderão entrar em campo contra o Rosario Central. A decisão, no entanto, ficará nas mãos do uruguaio Diego Aguirre, que não gosta de relacionar atletas que não estejam em plenas condições físicas.
Outra novidade do treinamento do Tricolor no CT da Barra Funda foi o retorno do zagueiro Rodrigo Caio. O jogador está em fase de transição do Reffis para os gramados e se recupera de um entorse no pé esquerdo. O defensor trabalhou ao lado do uruguaio Gonzalo Carneiro, que está em fase final de recuperação física e deve estar à disposição da comissão técnica nos próximos dias.
O atacante Morato, emprestado pelo Ituano até o fim desta temporada, sentiu dores no tornozelo esquerdo e não foi para o gramado com os demais jogadores do Tricolor.
Na próxima quarta, o São Paulo recebe o Rosario Central, no Morumbi, valendo vaga na segunda fase da Copa Sul-Americana. Na partida de ida, na Argentina, as equipes empataram sem gols. Para avançar na competição internacional, o Tricolor precisa de uma vitória. Empate com gols dá a vaga para os hermanos.

E é exatamente em Salvador, cidade onde chamou atenção defendendo o Vitória no ano passado, que o colombiano ganha outra oportunidade de provar seu valor no São Paulo.
Diretor executivo de futebol do Tricolor, Raí se convenceu a acertar contrato de quatro temporadas com o atacante de 28 anos por conta do seu desempenho pelo Vitória no segundo semestre de 2017 – foram dez gols em 23 jogos no Brasileiro. Por isso, desembolsou R$ 6 milhões para tirá-lo do time nordestino, em acordo que pode fazer o São Paulo gastar mais R$ 2 milhões caso o jogador não seja vendido até o fim de seu vínculo com o clube do Morumbi.
Mas, por enquanto, Tréllez não mostrou muito mais do que disposição com a camisa tricolor. Foram só dois gols em 16 partidas pela equipe, e o colombiano não balança as redes há mais de um mês: sua última marca foi em 4 de abril, na derrota por 2 a 1 para o Atlético-PR, em Curitiba, pela Copa do Brasil.
O camisa 17 passou em branco nas cinco últimas vezes que entrou em campo, perdendo espaço. O técnico Diego Aguirre estava insatisfeito com Diego Souza e preferiu apostar no estilo brigador de Tréllez, com capacidade de marcar a saída de bola adversária e pressionar os zagueiros. Por isso, o colombiano foi titular em sete dos 12 jogos do time sob o comando do uruguaio.
Mas a ineficiência ofensiva do atacante custaram seu lugar no time, à medida que Diego Souza ganhou espaço após a diretoria recusar oferta do Vasco para lhe dar uma nova chance. Diego foi titular nas três últimas partidas e, nesse período, Tréllez chegou a nem sair do banco contra o Atlético-MG, no fim de semana passado.
O problema físico de Diego Souza, contudo, abre uma nova oportunidade para Tréllez vingar. E exatamente na Bahia onde ele se mostrou ao Brasil, atraindo interesse de Corinthians e Santos até acertar com o São Paulo. Se Diego Souza conseguiu se recuperar, é em Salvador que Tréllez pode começar a fazer o mesmo pelo Tricolor, a partir deste domingo.

James Anderson will not bowl for the rest of the first Test in Cardiff, after scans revealed he had sustained a Grade 1 side strain, having left the field for treatment during the second day’s play against Sri Lanka.Anderson was the pick of England’s pace attack on Friday and produced a superb spell of swing bowling during the morning session to remove Mahela Jayawardene, but spent time off the field during the afternoon and was only able to bowl one over after tea before heading back to the dressing room.”It’s a huge concern for us,” said his new-ball partner Stuart Broad, who was himself ruled out of the latter stages of the Ashes after sustaining a side injury during the Adelaide Test in December. “He felt a bit of tightness in the back and side, and I know what side injuries are all about after this winter. If you do get a little bit of pain it’s not great, so we’re being pretty cautious.”Anderson came into this match having completed 71 overs for Lancashire in the build-up to the first Test following a winter where he was the stand-out bowler during the Ashes and claimed 24 wickets.Although Anderson was dropped during England’s World Cup campaign, and missed part of the one-day series in Australia to return to the UK, he was the only one of England’s quicks not to pick up an injury throughout the winter. However, he did suffer a serious stress fracture of his back in 2006 which forced him to miss all but the final match of the home season.There was encouragement for England when Anderson emerged from the pavilion as nightwatchman after Andrew Strauss’s dismissal in the final over of the day’s play. However, Broad explained that the requirements for batting and bowling are entirely different when it comes to side strains, and that his fitness should not be taken for granted as a result.”With my side injury I could do anything but bowl, so it’s one of those frustrating ones as a bowler,” he said. “Hopefully it will just be a bit of tightness and [the scan] won’t show a huge amount, but Jimmy’s not feeling pain when batting, so hopefully can have one of those frustrating hours for us tomorrow where he wears a few, but gets some away.”Anderson’s injury compounded a difficult day in the field for England, as Sri Lanka’s wicketkeeper Prasanna Jayawardene belied a career average in the low 30s to produce a doughty third Test century. Nevertheless, having experienced the placid nature of the Cardiff wicket against Australia two years ago, Broad was confident that a first-innings total of 400 was not insurmountable.”We got 420-odd against Australia in 2009 and we were under the pump for last 120 overs,” he recalled, after Australia had posted a post-war Ashes record of 674 for 6 declared. “That has got to be the mindset, to do what Australia did to us – bat big, bat once, and then hopefully Swanny will be in the game on last day.”But that doesn’t come about by focussing too much on that game,” he added. “Tomorrow is going to be the key day in the game. The ball moved about a bit in the morning, and they could easily have nicked a few more than they did, so it’s important we get through that session tomorrow morning and build big partnerships. Having watched the guys in Australia we can do that.”On a personal note, Broad reached a notable milestone in the evening session when he had Thisara Perera caught at mid-on to bring up his 100th wicket in Test cricket. At the age of 24 years and 337 days, he was the second-youngest Englishman to do so after Ian Botham, although the moment had been a long time coming. He had been limited to just two scalps in Australia before injury curtailed his Ashes campaign, and then had to wait a further 105 overs in Cardiff before finally breaking through.”I felt in really good rhythm,” he said. “The rub of the green didn’t go my way with a few decisions and nicks, but that happens in Test cricket from time to time, and our percentage of runs to third man was pretty frightening to be honest, so that’s something we might look at for the rest of the series.”It was hard work out there. We bowled pretty well and stayed together. It would have been quite easy to get quite ragged this afternoon but I thought we actually bowled pretty well, and created chances. We’re still in a decent position in this Test.”

Rodriguinho passou por uma frustração na segunda-feira ao não ser convocado para a Copa do Mundo, mas retoma nesta quinta o foco nos seus objetivos pelo Corinthians. Artilheiro da equipe na temporada com dez gols, o meia busca “seguir na mesma pegada”, a começar pelo jogo contra o Deportivo Lara (VEN), às 21h30, pela quinta rodada da fase de grupos da Libertadores.
– Estou feliz pelo começo do ano, que pode ser o melhor ano com a camisa do Corinthians pelo número de gols. Estou perto de igualar e ainda temos muitos jogos pela frente. Espero poder corresponder às expectativas e seguir na mesma pegada. É um momento novo, em que fico mais próximo da área e tenho mais liberdade para chegar. Meus companheiros tem ajudado bastante e criado muito para eu finalizar. Esses dois fatores ajudam para que eu possa fazer tantos gols – afirmou Rodriguinho, que pode igualar os 11 gols marcados em 2017, até agora o ano mais artilheiro dele pelo Timão.
Outro objetivo que Rodriguinho busca é conquistar sua primeira Libertadores da América. Após ser protagonista do Timão em conquistas de Brasileirão e Paulistão, ele quer “experimentar o gostinho” de levantar o troféu do principal torneio sul-americano.
– Lógico que é um título que todos nós queremos. Para mim seria fantástico ter uma Libertadores pelo Corinthians, é uma coisa que todo torcedor quer. Mas é um campeonato muito difícil, muitos times bons vão brigar, e vamos fazer nossa parte da melhor maneira possível. É um título que todo mundo quer. Aqui tem jogadores que já ganharam, e deve ser um gostinho muito bom, quero experimentar também – disse o meia, em entrevista recente.
O sonho da Libertadores, porém, pode ser interrompido por conta de uma outra meta pessoal do jogador. Aos 30 anos, Rodriguinho nunca escondeu o desejo de atuar na Europa e sabe que pode ser cobiçado na janela de transferências do meio do ano. Por outro lado, ele também já ressaltou que é “muito feliz” no Corinthians e disse estar “tranquilo” em relação a uma possível saída.
Com suas metas, Rodriguinho tenta esquecer a frustração de não ter sido convocado para a Copa do Mundo. Suas atuações podem ser fundamentais, tanto para o Corinthians seguir na Libertadores quanto para ter alguma boa proposta no meio do ano.
