JOGO GARANTIDO NO PRIMEIRO TEMPO
Em um bom clima, o primeiro tempo começou com Dedé sendo saudado pela torcida em comemoração ao seu centésimo jogo com a camisa celeste. Apesar de o URT ter se mostrado preocupado com a defesa, a Raposa conseguiu se sobressair em campo e abriu o placar aos 17 minutos. Pela esquerda, Marcelo Hermes cruzou a bola na área e, após dividida entre Thiago Neves e a zaga do URT, sobrou para Rafael Sobis pegar de primeira e mandar uma bomba para o fundo das redes do rival.

A vaga garantida nas quartas de final não diminuiu a pressão do Cruzeiro e, com ajuda do atacante gaúcho, a equipe voltou a largar na frente. No lance, Arrascaeta arrancou pelo meio de campo e tocou para Sobis, que voltou para o uruguaio dar o chute certeiro e ampliar a vitória em 2 a 0 aos 23 minutos. Dependendo do resultado, a URT começou a avançar já nos minutos finais, mas o camisa 7 ainda aproveitou a falha do rival para chutar na direção de Thiago Neves, que estava livre na área para bater cruzado com tranquilidade e fechar a vitória por 3 a 0 antes do intervalo.

CHUVA DE CARTÕES
A etapa inicial contou com uma chuva de cartões. Ao todo, seis foram aplicados. Sobrou até para quem estava no banco de reservas; caso de Egídio, que se exaltou na comemoração do segundo gol e recebeu o terceiro amarelo. A punição gera suspensão automática da partida contra a Patrocinense, pela 11ª rodada. Entretanto, no segundo tempo, apenas Lucas Romero foi contemplado.

QUEDA DE RENDIMENTO NA ETAPA FINAL
O Cruzeiro voltou para o segundo tempo um pouco mais lento. Mesmo tentando dar velocidade ao jogo com trocas de passes e movimentação em campo, o time encontrou dificuldade para escapar da marcação da URT. Precisando dos preciosos pontos, Carlinhos, deixou sua posição de origem para arriscar jogadas de ataque, mas o despreparo do time não permitiu final feliz no lance com o lateral, que acabou com a bola saindo pela linha de fundo. A pedido da torcida, Mano Menezes solicitou a entrada de Robinho na vaga de Mancuello.

O Cruzeiro ainda teve uma chance de ouro para concluir o chocolate quando Arrascaeta sofreu falta na entrada da grande área. Na cobrança, Lucas Silva mandou chute certeiro em Carlão, que fez boa defesa e deu o rebote nos pés de Dedé, mas o zagueiro furou. Enquanto a chuva caía sobre o gramado do Mineirão, a Raposa tentava ampliar o placar e evitar qualquer perigo do rival, mas a força dos times parecia ter chegado ao fim nos acréscimos e tudo terminou como estava aos 41 minutos do primeiro tempo: 3 a 0 para os donos da casa.

According to The Scotsman, the striker has an ‘outside chance’ of being fit for the second leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final clash.

The report claims that he has been in a hyperbaric chamber this week in a bid to speed up his recovery from a knee problem. He will be out for the first leg and for the Old Firm match on Sunday and Rangers are now targeting next Thursday (5th May) as a possible return date.

Van Bronckhorst will surely be buzzing with this news as it suggests that Roofe may be available for selection next week if the hyperbaric chamber is able to work its magic and get him back fit for the second leg.

The Dutch head coach is without first-choice striker Alfredo Morelos for the rest of the season due to injury and this means that the ex-Leeds man’s injury is doubly concerning as it leaves the Gers with no recognised centre-forward options. Fashion Sakala can play through the middle but is mainly deployed out wide on the right, which is why getting Roofe back will be a big boost for the club.

His injury was a major blow for Rangers as he was hitting form at the right time in the season. Prior to his knock, he scored four goals and provided two assists in his last six outings for the club in all competitions – including a crucial strike against Braga in the last round in Europe to send the Light Blues through to the last four.

This suggests that he would have had a big impact against RB Leipzig in Germany this week, and against Celtic on Sunday, as he has been in red-hot form in front of goal in recent weeks. Instead, he will be watching on from the sidelines as the Gers fight through these two huge matches without a natural number nine to call upon.

Hopefully, Rangers can head into the second leg at Ibrox without a heavy deficit to overturn and Roofe will be able to come back into the team to make the difference at the top end of the pitch. Speaking to the talkSPORT Breakfast Show (May 2), Leeds legend and Scottish Hall of Fame member Gray bemoaned the persistent fitness issues faced at the Yorkshire club.

He lamented: “It’s a tremendous blow for us. Stuart can play anywhere. If we get an injury Stuart can come in, he can play right-back, left-back, central midfield – he can play anywhere.

“He’s a vital player for Leeds United, it was such a blow when he got his injury on the weekend.

“And also, losing the skipper in the warm-up before the game Liam Cooper, was another blow for us. You just hope that he can recover quickly.”

The verdict: Dallas is a big loss

Even given the calibre of players already absent for Jesse Marsch’s side, the lengthy absence of Dallas could arguably be the hardest felt by the Whites.

Such is the importance of the energetic Northern Ireland international, the 31-year-old utility man had played in each of Leeds’ 34 Premier League matches to date in the current campaign up to last weekend.

Remarkably, he has only missed one league game since the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign, a testament to his reliability and how much he has been trusted by both Marcelo Bielsa and Marsch, so he will no doubt be a massive loss.

Without Dallas to call upon for the all-important remaining four fixtures due to a femoral fracture, Marsch will likely turn to Diego Llorente to return at centre-back whilst Luke Ayling reverts to a more natural right-back role.

The BCCI has appealed, as expected, against the interim stay issued by the Bombay High Court on the termination of the Kings XI Punjab franchise from the IPL. The court’s decision effectively allowed the franchise to continue being part of the tournament and even participate in the IPL’s next edition in 2011. The BCCI’s appeal will be heard on Tuesday – the same day that the court is expected to announce its verdict on the fate of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, in response to the BCCI’s appeal against the stay on the franchise’s termination issued by the independent arbitrator in the case.On December 8, Judge SJ Vajifdar had stated that, “prima facie”, Punjab had a strong case against its expulsion but his interim stay carried several riders, the most important being that the franchise cannot change its shareholding pattern and its control should rest in the hands of four main owners: Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul. The BCCI, in its appeal, claimed Punjab “did not make out a strong prima facie case that its consortium members were always in control”, and that the franchise did not meet the legal requirements needed to get the interim stay.In October the BCCI had terminated Punjab, holding the franchise guilty for violating the franchise agreement on three counts, the biggest offence being that the ownership had changed twice in the first three years of the league, something that went unreported to the Indian board.The High Court’s decision will be in operation until a new arbitrator – after Justice Srikrishna, the original agreed-upon arbitrator withdrew citing a conflict of interest – appointed by the disputing parties passes his verdict.

O América-MG saiu nas semifinais do Campeonato Mineiro para o Atlético-MG e já iniciou os trabalhos visando a próxima competição da temporada: o Brasileirão. Um dos destaques da equipe na temporada, o lateral-direito Aderlan espera que este período seu jogos faça o Coelho evoluir.

– Vamos aproveitar ao máximo esse período sem jogos para evoluirmos na temporada. Temos que trabalhar forte, de forma intensa, para melhorarmos ainda mais nosso rendimento em campo nas próximas semanas. A equipe está no caminho certo e tem tudo para evoluir – disse.

Pensando mais além, o jogador americano foca em que clube possa fazer uma grande Série A, após retornar da segunda divisão do Campeonato Brasileiro.

– Nossa ideia é chegar na estreia do Campeonato Brasileiro contra o Sport em um nível ideal, até porque a competição exige isso. Vamos nos preparar bem nas próximas semanas para realizarmos uma grande Série A – completou.
