Allrounder’s stint as captain of Gujarat Titans set to come to an end after two seasons

Barring any last-minute changes, Hardik Pandya is set to leave Gujarat Titans and return to Mumbai Indians, where he started his IPL career in 2015.ESPNcricinfo has learned the trade is an all-cash deal comprising Mumbai paying INR 15 crore ($1.8 million approx.) as Hardik’s salary and an undisclosed transfer fee to Titans. Hardik stands to earn upto 50% of the transfer fee.In case the trade goes through, it will possibly be the biggest player trade in IPL history. Neither franchise has yet made any public comment on the trade though. The biggest challenge for Mumbai is to have an adequate purse for the trade. After the last auction, Mumbai had just INR 0.05 crore ($6000 approx.) left. Franchises will get an additional INR 5 crore ($600,000 approx.) in their purse for the forthcoming auction. This only means Mumbai need to release player(s) to finish the Hardik trade. The retention deadline expires on November 26 at 4pm IST.Hardik led Titans to the title in 2022, their debut season in the IPL, and was the Player of the Match in the final against Rajasthan Royals. In 2023, the Titans made the IPL final for the second time in two seasons, where they came runners up to Chennai Super Kings. In both seasons, under Hardik’s leadership, Titans had finished top of the points table in the league stage.In his two-season stint at Titans, Hardik scored 833 runs in 30 innings, with an average of 41.65 and strike rate of 133.49. He took 11 wickets for them with an economy of 8.1. Hardik is currently injured, having suffered an ankle injury during India’s ODI World Cup campaign.If the trade happens, Hardik will become the third captain to be traded after R Ashwin moved from Punjab Kings to Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals traded Ajinkya Rahane also to Capitals, in 2020.When the Titans franchise, owned by global fund manager CVC Capital Partners, came into existence in 2021, they were allowed to pick three players from the pool released by other franchises before the mega auction. Titans signed Hardik and Afghanistan allrounder Rashid Khan for INR 15 crore each, with Shubman Gill their third pick at INR 7 crore.It was at Mumbai, where Hardik began his IPL career and developed into one of the best allrounders in the game. Bought for INR 10 lakhs as an uncapped player in 2015, Hardik was a part of Mumbai’s title-winning seasons in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.Having been retained by Mumbai ahead of every auction until 2021, Hardik was finally released ahead of the 2022 mega auction, a decision that came as a surprise. Mumbai were allowed to retain only four players that year and they chose to keep Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard, paving the way for Titans to sign Hardik as their captain.

No elenco que terminou a Série B, muitos jogadores estão em final de contrato e a maioria não deve permanecer. Algumas saídas já estão definidas, como as de Quintero, Fábio Gomes e Luiz Henrique, informadas pelo LANCE! no mês passado. Although they tried to reschedule the upcoming Tests against New Zealand, they were once again left with a decision to make. Long story short, the first-choice picks will be playing the SA20. These newbies will head out to the other side of the world.Neil Brand, South Africa captainBrand is yet to play a Test but when he does, on February 4, he will be captaining his country. Brand is an experienced domestic cricketer, who spent some time at Cardiff MCC and has built his professional career in Centurion. He has also spent time with the Somerset and Glamorgan Second XIs. He is 94 away from 3000 first-class runs and has a batting average of 39.27, including six hundreds, and also has a track record as a leader.He has captained in 18 of his 51 first-class matches, including for a significant part of the 2021-22 season when he led Titans to the domestic first-class trophy and finished as the tenth-highest run-scorer in the competition. He also led the South African A side against West Indies A earlier this year, a series that was organised to help prepare players for the New Zealand Tests and which South Africa won 2-1. Brand scored a century in the opening game and was the fifth-highest run-scorer in the series.The top sixThree of the top six are players who have been in or around South Africa’s Test squad: Keegan Petersen, David Bedingham and Zubayr Hamza and all three have strong records. Petersen and Hamza were the leading and third-highest run-scorer in the South African A series against West Indies and all three are involved in the ongoing rubber against India.Petersen was named in the Boxing Day Test after being dropped last summer, against West Indies, and scored 2 but has four half-centuries in 12 Tests and 11 years of experience in the domestic system. The pace attackFormer Kolpak players Duanne Olivier and Dane Paterson will lead the attack and offer pace, movement and most importantly experience. Olivier, who has played 15 Tests, was establishing himself as a regular in the South African side before he went to Yorkshire in 2019. He has 59 Test wickets, at an average of 21.93, including a best of 6 for 37 against Pakistan, three five-fors and a ten-wicket haul.Paterson, a bowler in the Vernon Philander mould of subtle seam movement, played two Tests for South Africa in 2020 before a brief stint as Kolpak and then overseas player for Nottinghamshire. He has more than 550 first-class wickets at an average of 23.63, and conditions in New Zealand are expected to suit him.The rest of the attack will be made of uncapped players, including allrounder Mihlali Mpongwana, who was named in the ODI squad for the India series but did not get a game. He earned the praise of T20I captain Aiden Markram, who said he “thinks about the game in a great way” and adapts well to conditions. He operated as a third and sometimes fourth seamer in the series against West Indies A but has only played one other first-class match this season. Alongside him is another former Under-19 player, Tshepo Moreki, a swing bowler with 93 first-class matches to his name.The spinnersOffspinner Dane Piedt played nine Tests for South Africa between 2014 and 2019 before becoming part of a wave of cricketers who left the country to join the Major League Cricket circuit. Piedt played two matches for the second-division Knights side and was the leading wicket-taker in the series against West Indies A and can expect to add to his international caps on this trip.While New Zealand may not be a place to play two spinners in a Test, Conrad has decided to do so, with the addition of 37-year-old legspinner Shaun von Berg. Von Berg has played on South Africa’s domestic scene since 2009 and has regularly been among the leading wicket-takers in the first-class competition. He is currently playing for Boland and has 15 wickets from five games in the four-day tournament.The wicketkeeperClyde Fortuin was part of South Africa’s Under-19 World Cup-winning side in 2014 but did not go on to reach the heights of his team-mates, Markram or Kagiso Rabada. Instead, he has racked up 74 first-class caps, 68 of them as wicketkeeper, and was the only wicketkeeper used in the A series against West Indies. Though his batting average overall is just 27.10, he has shown recent form and was the fifth-highest run-scorer in the last season’s first-class competition.

Pedrinho chega ao Tricolor após chamar a atenção de Ceni pela boa fase vivida no América-MG no ano passado, quando foi um dos destaques do Coelho no Campeonato Brasileiro e Copa do Brasil. Nesta última, esteve em campo no confronto entre as equipes pelas quartas de final.

Sua atuação, aliás, diante do São Paulo chamou a atenção dos russos, que o contrataram duas semanas após o duelo de volta daquela eliminatória, no Independência.

No Lokomotiv, foram nove jogos, quatro gols e uma assistência até agora. Mas dificuldades em se adaptar ao país fizeram seu estafe procurar interessados no futebol brasileiro com o fim da atual temporada.

Mudanças constantes de clubes, aliás, é uma das características que marcam a carreira de Pedrinho até aqui. Revelado pelo Juventus da Mooca, foi para o Audax, de Osasco, onde se profissionalizou em 2017. Desde então já foram cinco clubes diferentes na carreira, incluindo Bragantino e Athletico.

Pedrinho atende uma exigência de Ceni para preencher uma carência do elenco. Seja como meia, ou caindo para a ponta-esquerda, é veloz, driblador e capaz de quebrar linhas defensivas alheias. Assim atuou a maior parte do tempo no América-MG. E é justamente uma opção assim que o comandante são-paulino espera em seu grupo para o ano que vem.

-Eu não quero ver ele (Alessandro Barcellos) nem pintado de ouro na minha frente. Sabe o que é um cara ficar te ligando todo dia pra eu vir. Eu tinha um bom salário no Shakhtar, um bom contrato. Sam Robson and Ryan Higgins continued their fine form with centuries as Middlesex’s run-fest of a game with visitors Sussex continued on day three at Lord’s.Robson underpinned the hosts response to Sussex’s mammoth 554 for 9 with 136, the 35th first-class hundred of his career, while Higgins added the flair his third century of the campaign – an effort of 106 in Middlesex’s total of 403 for 6.Sussex, for whom Jack Carson returned figures of 3 for 89 will rue dropping Robson twice on 51 and 129, while Higgins was also given a life on 67 – England seamer Ollie Robinson the unlucky bowler on each occasion.Given Robson’s heroics it’s important to reflect he may have departed the scene in the opening over of the day. Responding to a call from partner Holden for an injudicious single, the right-hander running to the striker’s end would have been gone for all money given a direct hit. It set the tone for some sketchy running by the opener who suffered at least two other close calls.Robson’s driving however, whether square or through the covers was exquisite, one such stroke taking him to his half-century. The landmark came amid a testing morning burst from Robinson, Robson surviving a confident lbw shout from one which was just going over the top before Clark grassed the first of the two chances offered a slip, a tough one, but an expensive miss nonetheless.At the other end, Max Holden, a man revitalised this season moved to 50 with a minimum of fuss, helped by five boundaries, allowing the pair to steer the hosts to lunch at 140 for 1.Holden however, as on a few occasions this year fell soon after a resumption when the ball after dancing down the pitch to strike Jack Carson back over his head for four, he flashed at a wide one from the spinner to be caught at slip for 61.Leus Du Plooy’s contribution was brisk but brief, the acting captain paddling an innocuous ball wide of leg stump from Jaden Seales straight down the throat of long leg.Robson, though, found another ally in the form of all-rounder Higgins, who came out as ever bristling aggression, reverse sweeping Carson for four before playing the shot in the more orthodox fashion for the first six of the innings into the Grandstand.Robson meanwhile crunched his 14th four through cover to raise his hundred as the stand realised 79 by tea. The opener was given a second life shortly after the restart, Clark again the culprit at slip, Robinson again the unlucky bowler. Clark beat the ground in frustration, but the second top at least didn’t prove costly as Robson fell to the new ball, chipping a tired shot straight to mid-wicket.Higgins continued to be aggressive while Robinson continued to curse his luck. The seamer first found the inside edge of the Zimbabwean’s bat only for the ball to trickle onto the stumps without dislodging the bails, before Higgins flashed hard at a wide one on 67 to be reprieved again as James Coles failed to cling on at third slip.That scare survived, and with the luckless Robinson finally retreating into the outfield, Higgins forged on, striking Coles for successive boundaries to reach his hundred, before dancing down the pitch to Carson and missing the ball to be stumped by John Simpson.Tom Helm, promoted to seven, fell only two balls later in identical fashion to cause a few nerves, but 20-year-old Nathan Fernandes underlined his promise with a composed unbeaten 50 to leave the hosts just two short of the follow-on figure of 405 at stumps.
