League leaders Arsenal held on to secure a vital point in what was a thrilling encounter against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday evening, with Mikel Arteta's men left thankful for some goalkeeping heroics from Aaron Ramsdale as they moved six points clear of rivals Manchester City at the summit.

It had looked set to be a rare routine outing on Merseyside for the Gunners as the visitors romped into a two-goal lead inside 28 minutes through Gabriel Martinelli and compatriot Gabriel Jesus, before a clash involving Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to spring the home crowd into life.

Galvanised by that moment of conflict, Jurgen Klopp's side quickly struck back through Mohamed Salah's close-range effort, with the Reds then having a chance to draw level soon after the break, only for the Egyptian international to put his spot-kick wide.

With the north London outfit somewhat hanging on, up stepped long-term nemesis Roberto Firmino to eventually level things up, with the former Hoffenheim man having now scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 18 meetings between the two sides.

That equaliser looked set to spark a late winner for the home side at the death, albeit with that man Ramsdale denying Salah with a stunning diving save, before again thwarting Ibrahima Konate from point-blank range, among a catalogue of top-drawer saves.

The England international wasn't alone in having been a standout presence for Arteta and co, however, with towering defender, Gabriel, having also proven just why he is something of a "monster", as previously hailed by writer Jason Soutar.

Liverpool returned to winning ways in spectacular fashion as they demolished Leeds United 6-1 at Elland Road to secure a vital three points.

Jurgen Klopp’s men hadn’t won in the Premier League since the start of March, when they scored seven goals against Manchester United and were well overdue another win which boosts their European credentials.

The German stuck with the same team that drew 2-2 with Arsenal last week, and it paid dividends, with the front three of Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all helping themselves to goals, while late substitute Darwin Núñez grabbed one too in a resounding display of attacking prowess.

The Anfield side dominated possession during the tie, having the ball 74% of the time and made their seven shots on target count.

Jota, who hadn’t scored in over a year, finally ended his drought with a double, and he averaged a Sofascore rating of 8.5/10, the joint-highest on the team.

The Portuguese forward took five shots, registered three goal contributions, and made one key pass in what was a lively display and a timely return to form at a crucial point of the campaign.

Yet it wasn’t he, nor the other two attackers who excelled the most, that honour goes to Curtis Jones.

What a difference eight days can make. Last week against the Gunners, Jones was statistically one of the worst players on the team, just behind Virgil van Dijk, tonight, he was among one of their finest performers.

Aside from the front three and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jones’ Sofascore rating of 7.9 was the best in the Liverpool starting XI last night as he grabbed an assist, took 85 touches and completed 89% of his attempted passes, showing a much greater improvement than last week.

The Englishman provided an extra attacking dimension to Liverpool’s attack, making two key passes and succeeding with all four of his dribble attempts, demonstrating that he can contribute going forward when required.

By also making five tackles, one clearance and winning 11 duels, the £15k-per-week earner justified his selection in the starting XI as his defensive ability was key in allowing the Anfield side to secure a crucial three points and his performance was praised by journalist Josh Bunting, who said:

“Curtis Jones having a really good game here, completed the most dribbles and won the most duels also has an assist to his name. The pass to Diogo Jota is sensational, so sharp and smart to pick him out to score. Has been that driving force in the midfield in an energetic display.”

Bouncing back following his unconvincing display against Arsenal suggests the midfielder doesn’t allow a poor performance to bring him down and he was integral to Liverpool’s landslide win last night.

Leeds United's academy have produced an incredibly consistent amount of top talent over the years; however, it seemed like that kicked into overdrive during their darkest years as a club.

When finances were so bleak that any asset had to be sold at a cut price, the Whites would produce talents like James Milner, Fabian Delph and Aaron Lennon, all of whom were poached by bigger clubs preying on their misfortunes.

The same was expected when Danny Rose departed Yorkshire as a 17-year-old prodigy, having yet to play a first-team game under Dennis Wise. Although his tenure within the dugout was short, the manager likely had little say in seeing the left-back leave for Tottenham Hotspur. Whilst his future was bright, Leeds needed top players now rather than in five years' time, such was their predicament.

It was a necessary evil to offload the teenage sensation, and whilst they may live to rue the sale, all they could do at the time was shrug their shoulders and move on.

And yet, nearly 16 years on from the move, the 32-year-old finds himself unemployed, forced to talk about football from the sidelines when he would likely much rather still be playing the sport instead.

What happened to Danny Rose?

Featuring 214 times in total for the Lilywhites, this hardly represents a fine return from someone who spent so long at the club. However, it was thought that he truly would be destined for the stars when the defender volleyed home from all of 30 yards against bitter rivals Arsenal on his Premier League debut.

Despite this, especially given his more prominent spells within the team, it never really felt like the full-back was particularly excellent in any one facet of the game for sustained periods. His defensive work was solid if unspectacular; a return of just ten goals and 29 assists across over 200 appearances is indicative of his average offensive exploits.

Even as recently as 2019, Roy Keane lambasted the defender as "shocking" and "abysmal" after a performance for his country, showcasing just how quickly he fell from grace.

It seemed that the Englishman truly met his end in north London under Jose Mourinho, in what is now a lightning rod moment for ridicule. He told the legendary Portuguese coach: “I was very excited when you came as manager, but if you don’t want me to play, I’d rather you just tell me now, and I’ll stay at home, and I’ll train at home."

This then led to a conversation with CEO Daniel Levy, where he famously asked if AC Milan had come in for him despite the only suitors being Newcastle United.

As the beginning of the end of a once-promising career stagnated, he would struggle on Tyneside before moving to Watford, only to be banished from there as well, with his contract eventually terminated.

The 32-year-old even recently questioned "How am I unemployed?" after watching the Magpies maul his old club just last week, suggesting that the defender is not retired, simply unwanted. The displays in the final years of his career serve to answer his query.

Leeds should have played witness to a fine career for Rose away from their club, yet poor decisions perhaps thwarted what could have been a very special player.

وعن إقالته من بنفيكا وتدريب النصر بعد 6 أيام فقط، قال: “لقد كان النصر مهتمًا بي منذ أن كنت في بنفيكا، وعندما غادرت النادي، عادوا للمفاوضات، أخذت بعض المتغيرات بعين الاعتبار، أولًا الجانب المالي، لأنني شخص محترف ولدي عائلة، كما أنني أريد اكتشاف شيء آخر”.

وشدد: “رفضت التواجد في قوقعة ولا أنظر للعالم أكثر. لا أقول أفضل أو أسوأ. فقط أريد اكتشاف هذه التجارب وأن أعيشها، جمعت بين تحدي جديد وواقع جديد في النصر، وبمجرد وصولي، حصلت معهم على اللقب الوحيد الذي لم أحققه مع بنفيكا محليًا، وهو كأس السوبر”.

Manchester United have enjoyed a fine season, with Erik ten Hag making his mark during his debut campaign in the Old Trafford dugout.

The Red Devils may not have been expected to secure a top-four place ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, let alone do so having also reached two cup finals. With silverware already in the bag and another trip to Wembley on the horizon, their transformation from last season's mess has been meteoric.

However, with such impressive performances understandably comes additional pressure.

Ten Hag spent big in the summer to bolster his squad massively, but there still remain glaring weaknesses within his squad, not least up front. Although the former Ajax boss might appreciate Wout Weghorst, the goal-shy loanee is far from the answer.

Two key targets seem to have already been identified, both with rather contrasting skill sets. Should the Red Devils fail to tempt Harry Kane from north London, despite their longstanding interest, perhaps they could simply turn to Benjamin Sesko as a more long-term solution to their striking woes.

Will Benjamin Sesko join Man United?

Writing for GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones gave an update on their search for a new forward. The Slovenian marksman continues to crop up as an option, but this makes for a perplexing transfer situation given the 19-year-old is already set to join RB Leipzig this summer.

Moving for a €24m (£21.3m) fee – well below his market value due to the shared Red Bull relationship – it is expected that the German outfit will seek to make a huge profit on the forward before he has even kicked a ball for them.

With United as long-time suitors and notorious big spenders, there is every reason to believe a deal could be made this summer.

How good is Benjamin Sesko?

With 14 goals in just 26 league matches for RB Salzburg, plus a further two in their domestic cup, it was been a prolific season for the young finisher. Such blistering form for someone of his age has understandably drawn praise, with journalist Ryan Taylor including him in the bracket of "generational talents". Meanwhile, fellow writer Manuel Veth agreed that the "kid is special".

What makes him so unique is not just his goalscoring, as the 6 foot 5 goliath also poses a fine physical threat upon which teams can build from. Given Ten Hag's liking towards Weghorst – who stands an inch taller than this potential successor – the Red Devils boss could seek to bring in this teenager and mould him into his perfect striker.

Whilst Kane might already have perfected such a role, and with an added hunger to push towards the all-time Premier League scoring record, he is hardly one for the future at 29. With a £100m upfront fee touted too, it is expected to be far from a cheap deal.

Despite being more inexperienced, Sesko could prove to be an intelligent investment for the future of the club, rather than rushing to sign the biggest, shiniest player available on the market – all at a cheaper price. This is a tactic they have deployed in the past since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, to little success.

Tottenham Hotspur could use striker Richarlison as a replacement for Harry Kane if the latter is to leave north London in the summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

As per Sky Sports, Manchester United are keen on signing Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer; however, they will not be drawn into a protracted transfer saga as they battle for his signature.

The report states that Spurs have 'growing concern' that Kane won't sign a contract extension at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium due to their turbulent nature on and off the field with just over 12 months left on his deal; however, the Lilywhites are adamant that he is not for sale.

Bayern Munich are also interested in the possibility of acquiring Kane and The Independent have revealed that the Bundesliga giants could test the water by making a 'persuasive offer' to try and entice him to the Allianz Arena.

Kane has been in brilliant form this term, registering 27 goals and five assists in 45 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

In the event that Kane does leave his boyhood club in the forthcoming transfer window, journalist Jones has speculated in his column for GIVEMESPORT that his replacement could already be in the building in the form of Brazilian striker Richarlison.

Jones suggested: "Sources have told GMS that the possibility of him leaving [Kane] is genuine.

"It’s slightly harsh to throw that stat at Richarlison given it has been a stop-start campaign but facts are facts. He came off the bench to score at Liverpool on Sunday, but Spurs fans would be right to hold some concern."

Could Richarlison replace Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur?

Richarlison is someone who has shown in his career that he can be a source of goals; however, Jones is right in pointing out that his record hasn't been up to scratch this season, meaning it would probably anger the Tottenham fans if they weren't to enter the transfer market in the scenario that they did decide to sell Kane.

In his defence, Richarlison did register 11 goals and five assists with Everton in 2021/22, as per Transfermarkt, before completing a £60 million move to Spurs last summer.

The 25-year-old also has 20 strikes in 42 matches at international level with his native Brazil, showing that he can lead the line effectively when prioritised as a central figure in attack.

Nevertheless, Spurs should be looking to bring in a new centre-forward if Kane does choose to depart the club in order to show the fans their ambition or hefty criticism would likely come the way of the Tottenham hierarchy.
